great solution to overeating
I have 4 cats and bought 2 of these dishes. None of them were thrilled with the idea at first, and a couple of them complained a day or two hoping that their old dishes would return. Some people made comments that their cats enjoyed playing with the bowls and "hunting" for food, but I guess mine are lazy because they acted pretty pathetic the first day, lol. But, after a couple of days they got used to them and all use them fine now. They do scoot them around a little bit on the tile, but no more than they used to move their old dishes around. If your cats really play with the bowls alot, I think you could solve the sliding problem if you use one of those plastic mats with raised edges rather than the cloth mat they come with. Or, buy one of those rubber mats you put under rugs to keep them from slipping, cut a piece out, and glue it to the bowl. I find a few loose pieces of kibble scattered around the bowls, but my cats make less of a mess with these bowls than their old ones. With 4 cats and 2 bowls, I use the extension ring that comes with the bowls and I have to refill them every other day (but my cats get soft food for dinner, so you might need to refill more often if this is their only food source).Overall, this is a great product. My only suggestions for future models would be 1) to put a rubber bottom on them so they don't slide, and 2) to make the extension rings lock in place because they come off very easily, and I am afraid it is just a matter of time before one of my cats figures out how to knock them off and hit the jackpot! Also, I would happily purchase a larger extender ring if it were available, so I could leave them enough food for a few days when I travel.

Dinner and a show
This is my third puzzle feeder. My first one was a Catit Design Senses Treat Maze and the second was one of those little treat balls. I really liked those two, but the ball was kind of messy and I have 4 cats, so one food bowl seemed cruel. So I decided to try this one out.Ever since I was introduced to puzzle feeders I have loved the idea. Not only does it slow down my cats eating (so less throw up!), it makes them think, keeping both them and me entertained. It is lots of fun to watch them figure out a new bowl :) This was wasn't too difficult for them, within 10 minutes of sniffing and poking at it, the smartest cat of the bunch had it figured out. Her less intelligent followers were at least intelligent enough to copy her and within 15 minutes they had all snagged some food.My biggest complaint is that this bowl tends to make great journeys across my kitchen floor. I fill it up in the morning on one end and by evening it is on the other side of the room. I have half hearty attempted to solve the problem with little success. I will note though that there is a ceramic version of this bowl available which might not have this problem. Keep that in mind when purchasing. If your cat is new to puzzle feeders, I would recommend starting them off with one of the ball styles. If they can't handle that, don't torture them with this.

Takes a while, but they’ll figure it out!
My cat had to go on a diet, and my vet recommended this puzzle feeder to help slow down my cat’s eating. She’s super stubborn, so she didn’t take to it at first. After she realized her new bowl wasn’t coming back, she got used to the puzzle feeder and now she’s doing great! We haven’t had it for long enough to know if it’s helping with her weight loss yet, but it is helping her to spend less time at the bowl and to eat less every time she’s there. We got the plastic bowl and it’s holding up well, and seems easy enough to clean since it breaks down into two parts.

Needs improvement, but still fantastic!
We have 3 cats, one with food issues. When she is stressed, she eats. When food is not available, she will search the kitchen counter for food. When she eats she will often gulp the food so quickly that it immediately comes up. Because of her nervousness when no food is available (or even when the food dish gets low), and because of the other cats, we have always had kibble available. As a result this cat has become very rotund. This dish solves her eating problems. She can't gulp the food, so she's not throwing it up. The food is always available, so she doesn't get nervous. She has to work for the kibble, so she doesn't overeat. We've had it about 6 weeks now and she is still very round, but I can tell she is losing weight. There are definitely problems with the implementation:1. The kibble sometimes gets stuck and doesn't dispense. A light kick or shake takes care of it, but sometimes our cats have to wait a few hours until we notice. It is somewhat dependant on kibble shape, so your mileage may vary.2. If the cats get a bit too active around the bowl, the column holding the food can get dislodged. We have solved this by running some packing tape from one side of the bowl to the other, across the lid of the column. We have to "untape" it each time we refill, which is a minor hassle.Despite these problems I am so thrilled with a solution to our over-eating/throwing up cat that I still rate it 5 stars. Some other general comments:-We have three large cats, and need to fill the dish (with the column extension) twice a day.-It took about 2 days for all the cats to have the food dish completely figured out.-It is entertaining to watch the cats fish the bits of kibble out of the bowl.I am about to order a second dish so we can more easily leave home for a couple days. And I might try to figure out some more elegant way to stabilize the central column.
