The Scent of You

Very good book!
This book touched on such much more than just romance. It touched on friendship, and children, and parents, and falling in love the second time. There is a mystery that runs through this story. This is not a psychological thriller. It is a story about a family that cannot make heads nor tails of father who has disappeared. The reason becomes clear towards the end of the book. Once the secret is out there is freedom for everyone. The theme of the book is the wonderful way the heroine uses her sense of smell. She is a blogger who discusses perfumes. She also teaches yoga. Two children are in college and her husband is a professor. It sounds so innocuous but it isn’t. The writing is wonderful and the quirky friends help make the book.

Lovely Scent
This book grew on me and soon could not put it down. Polly is so accomplished as yoga teacher and scent blogger. She is also very grounded even as her known world collapses. There are so many complications and thoughtful musings...her new life is wonderful and joyful. Overall I really enjoyed this book and author.

The scent of Maggie Alderson is delightful!
Another gorgeous and thought provoking book by Maggie Alderson. I loved the perfume blogger concept and the background story around perfume and scent. Daphne and Guy were both gorgeous characters that added an interesting dynamic to the character mix. The character of David was totally unexpected and intriguing and I would have enjoyed him interacting a little more with Polly and the family before reaching the conclusion to his storyline. Although I gave this 5 stars because I love Maggie's writing, I would have liked to have seen the trip to Paris included In this book and perhaps a less tidy ending. But I still loved it!!

Engrossing and unputdownable
Loved this book! The writing, the story line, the characters, everything superb. But what I especially loved is that it led me to try new perfumes and to fully appreciate all the wonderful scents in my life. I wish there were more books like this.

I love this author and this book did not disappoint. In addition to enjoying the story and the characters, i was left so much more knowledge regarding scents, perfumes and the perfume industry.

Good read , interesting family, fabulous world of perfume
This is the first book I have read by Maggie Anderson and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it greatly. In the initial stages I (wrongly) assumed it was going to be a light weight novel that lent itself to the 'easy easy read' pile but that wasn't the case. As it developed a thought procikung scenario developed that was appreciated and surprising. I enjoyed the characters a lot and was disappointed when it ended. The world of perfumery?!!! My My! What an eye ( or nose) opener! I had no idea perfume was so complex! This was fascinating! A good read but could have enjoyed better editing. There were 5 grammar mistakes in this HarperCollins ! You should be ashamed of yourself!!!!Apart from that. Congratulations to the author. A lot of research went into this and a good book.

Classic, fun, wonderful story that kept me smiling for hours...
So much more than Chick Lit! Maggie Alderson is a favourite author of mine. Her heroines are always the perfect combination of relatable, kooky, fun and people you just enjoy having in your life! Polly is that and more. It was wonderful to read about a heroine who in fact is going through her 'husband inflicted' crisis a little later than others but finds her unique way making this such a wonderfully delightful read.Being a perfume blogger provided a fascinating insight into this unusual world. The world of perfumery was a total eye and nose opener.. as it's so complex! I won't be spraying my latest Chloe without thinking twice having read this!!Ultimately, this was a 'coming of age story/find yourself' but our leading lady is in her 50's - her kids have left home, her husband needs 'space and time' and disappears, and she has to find her own way, which she does with unique friends and her perfume blog. But as much fun as it is for the Reader to see how Polly distracts herself with the divine world of luxury perfume, reality does come knocking. Eventually, forcing Polly to confront the cold heart truth not only about her husband, but also about herself and who she really wants to be.The Scent of You is classic Alderson. I loved learning a bit about perfume, the London setting, all the these flawed but lovable characters. This is intelligent female literature with a heavy sense of style and filled with wonderful wit and humour, making this one can't-put-down read.

The sound of you by Maggie Anderson
Anyone who loves perfume and the blending of it will love this book. The characters are very real and the story pulls you in quite quickly. The mystery behind David's disappearance is what kept me reading.
