You CAN assemble this. Yes, it has a lot of parts and stuff but the instructions were clear. It took the greater part of a Sunday to put together but no step was terribly difficult.Now I’m not sure why this is an Ultralight trailer because it’s pretty heavy. It is very well built. I’ve driven up to 65 MPH, but 60 feels like the fastest safe speed to me.Overall I’m happy with this product, but don’t expect a super light item. It a heavy sucker.

I am a 73 year old bay saltwater fisherman. I use my kayak to fish from and to get me to where I want to wade fish. I have a roof carrier on my truck, but that is too much for me anymore when fishing alone. I also have a bed extender that works great, but is too cumbersome to be efficient. Therefore, I bought the Malone kit and am so glad I did. Now I just have to back my truck to the garage door, hook up and I am off.The parts came in four boxes. The construction was not difficult but the instructions were often confusing since each box had a separate/similar but different instructions since the various trailers are modular. The main frustration for me - other than putting it together by myself (two people would be much better) - was that there were so many almost identical nuts that I was constantly realizing I had the wrong one and having to back out and replace. Also, once the tongue is connected to the frame it is not possible to run the wiring through it and must remove the nut to get the wiring done. These are minor problems and this is an excellent purchase. Have to keep looking to be sure it is really attached to the truck. I love it and be ability to leave it with the kayak on in the garage to keep the kayak off the floor and at a convenient hight for maintenance.

Very heavy duty for a kayak trailer.
