Good quality wire.
High quality wire. Very pleased with the feel of the insulation, which is very thick. I would wager it is definitely safe for mains wiring, although I use it for low voltage power delivery (12V, ~15A, using two wires in parallel). Don't forget to consult your ampacity charts! Note that this wire is actually copper. I don't even think it's plated aluminum. It's multi-stranded solid copper from what I can tell. If someone wants to know the number of strands, ask a question on this item and I will try to reply.

Listed as 16 but is really 14
My only complaint about this "16 gauge wire" is that if you try to use a wire stripper set to 16 gauge, you'll loose some strands of wire as well. This is actually a 14 gauge wire, which is just fine by me.

Having said that -- it looks like nice 18 AWG wire
Wrong gauge wire.I ordered 16 AWG in a 25 foot spool, and the spool label says 16 AWG (I don't think there was a shipping error) but once the spool was unwrapped it was clearly 18 AWG wire. I say this not only based on my experience working with wire -- but the fact that the wire was printed 18 AWG. every so many inches.Make sure you take a second look before supplying a load intended for 16 AWG wire, and then find out after the fire that the 18 AWG wire melted.Having said that -- it looks like nice 18 AWG wire.

Ya its wire... but NOT 16 AWG!
The wire is not really 16 awg copper wire... its most likely 18 awg. Can be useful for low voltage work, small loads. But it will not pass UL standards for 16awg lamp work. I will keep the wire for other uses but if your looking for accurate product representation this is not the case. I suspect the manufacture is measuring the external insulation and not the internal copper as the over all diameter. When buying get a sample or check the reviews...Not recommended for what it represents.

What is there to say? It's a spool of wire.
This is a spool of wire with red insulation; the wire is 25 feet long and 16 gauge. It is easy to cut and strip with the correct tools... or your teeth- it's up to you.Pros:Wire is spooledWire is redWire conducts electricityCons:Wire likes to stay 'curled' once pulled from spoolNot suitable as a flotation deviceTo summarize: it's spooled wire.

Nice wire. I often look at it and think "I wonder what it's like to carry electricity to my switches and motors?" This wire? It spoke to me. It said "Buy me" and so I did. It's great although we're not together anymore. She went her separate ways when I sold the car and bought a Journey CD.

Easy to make solder & butt connections and run through ...
used to wire in a remote kill switch on my boat I've had since 8th grade [I'm 72]. Easy to make solder & butt connections and run through protective sheath. A good strong set up yet flexible enough to make rather tight connections in the outboard motor tiller handle. Thanks.

Falsely specified at 16 Ga.
16 awg should be 0.0508"... This is 0.0405" This is 18 awg, not 16 awg. They put it in an extra thick insulator and stencil "16 Ga" down the side of it to fool you. Not only is this false advertising, but also dangerous; this could potentially cause a fire. This should be illegal. In my photos, the black wire is real18 awg the blue wire is an real 16 awg, and the white one is this terrible product.
