Watercolor Border Protection
I bought this to tape the edges of watercolor paper. The tape keeps my paper stable and does not allow the flow of color into the margins. So glad I found this. I purchased the 1/2 inch size which allows me to split the border and surface without measuring to get a 1/4 inch border on my paintings. Great product at a great price

Great tape if you know what you're doing
Before I bought this I read some other reviews and saw that some folks were using it for wet media. I'm not sure if this tape is ideal for that application. That said it works superbly as a low/medium tac tape for dry media. I use it to mask my borders for large charcoal/pastel portraits on Strathmore paper. It's really all about how you pull your tape when you finish a piece. The paper only rips when you don't pull it off correctly. When you pull your tape put it on a floor or flat surface. Pull your tape at an angle away from your edge and almost touching the work surface. I attached a picture to demonstrate. This has always worked perfectly for me when pulling tape.

Not sticky enough for watercolor, but great for pattern paper!
Update: I have found an excellent use for this tape if you are a pattern maker. I use it for tracing paper, taping up reference photos (without damaging them, and for large pieces of thin 'medical paper' (the big rolls of thin paper that you can use for drafting large patterns, tracing, or for medical tables). It holds my sewing patterns together, then often tears off with little damage if I move the sheets around (e.g. Planning and moving darts). And its very easy to mark over with pencil or ink so the marks are very clear and clean. Its still thumbs-down for stretching watercolor paper as the tiniest bit of heat or water ruins the adhesive, but for holding delicate paper down temporarily, its fantastic.Original: I have tried this tape on several different pieces so far and it inevitably loses adhesion within the first real wetting. If the paper begins to buckle at all, the seam pops. And if you use a blow drier with any level of heat, it doesn't even try to hold, just gone. * Granted, all the masking tape brands I've tried do this to some degree it seems.Though I have no use for this to hold my watercolor paper, I have found its useful for plenty of other tasks, like taping a layer down for tracing a design, securing a material onto my cricut mats, and so on. Anything that is delicate enough that you don't want to damage it, but which will have very little stress added (eg. water, heat...) like taping a reference photo up, it works very well for. No residue, clean peel, easy to tear, etc. Just not a durable enough adhesive for my purposes.

Useful for taping off edges of watercolor paper
This tape is perfect for painting watercolors when you need to adhere the paper to a board. It does not stick to the paper too much which would result in ripping. I have ordered this twice, so it's good stuff!

All purpose tape for household use
I do not use this on art; however, I find artists tape to be super useful for pretty much any purpose that I would have used masking tape for in the past. (Past = before I discovered artist tape.) It holds well until you easily peel it off and never leaves residue. This tape is not sheer, so it's good for writing on as well. We use it daily to mark left over containers so we know what date they went into the fridge. The tape will even stay on through the washer then peels off easily.

Not that good
I love Mr Pen’s mechanical pencils but not so much their “drafting” tape.PROS: *Comes off easily *Doesn’t leave residue behind *Doesn’t tear off professional grade watercolor paper (Arches, Fabriano, Winsor & Newton) when removedCONS: *Comes off easily, too easily, even when you’re not ready to remove it *Water/watercolors seeps/bleeds through so you can’t have clean unpainted edges. *Not enough adhesiveness *Too thin *Gets wavy edges, instead of keeping edges straight, if you pull it even jut a little when trying to create borders on watercolor paper *Comes off if using a lot of water on watercolor paper

Perfect for watercolors
Many watercolorists use tape to provide a border around the painting. I have bought various brands and it has been hit or miss. The last brand I bought was great then they sent me a roll that felt totally different and did not stick. For watercolor, it has to stick well but then leave no residue when removed and it can't tear the paper. It's a delicate balance. This stuff works perfectly and much cheaper than the others I have used so I am very happy to have found it - it was recommended on a watercolor painter's forum.

Holds paper fast without tearing
I like this so much better than the drafting dots - it doesn’t show up on copies, and there’s no branding to distract the eye and detract from the design you’re trying to wow a client with.

Very good , does not tear paper
Very easy to mask border on my Studio Series Mixed Media Pad (60 heavyweight sheets) purchased from Amazon. The tape did not damage the paper and adhesion was still good and I could re-use the tape on another sheet the following day.

Poor quality, overpriced generic masking tape
Based on the description, I had hoped to use this as a lower cost replacement for lab tape. Unfortunately, what I received was nothing more than thin, standard masking tape, with extremely poor adhesion (even before use, the tape is already unspooling by itself!).I expect to trash whatever I bought.Lesson learned: just buy trusted brands from reliable sellers, in future.I would recommend that anyone reading this review avoid buying this tape, and treat other reviews of this product with a large pinch of salt.
