They took away the talon clip
I really want to love the new version of this leash. My dog is a strong puller (something I’ve been working on with her diligently, but all hell breaks loose when she sees a surprise squirrel), and so I wear this leash around the waist. The plastic clip is a new addition to this leash. It used to be a sturdy metal hook. I’ve had this leash for a few months, but I can already hear the plastic groaning with my dog starts pulling. I don’t think it’s going to hold for much longer, so I think I may have to look into different options. I love this brand, they have such high quality dog gear, but this was a major change to this leash that I was extremely unhappy with.I would still definitely recommend this leash to people with dogs who have better leash manners than mine. If your dog isn’t a strong puller, this is definitely a solid choice.

Used to be a fan of Ruffwear... not anymore... SUPER cheap materials
I've used Ruffwear leashes and packs for quite a while. This is now my 4th "flat out" leash (not sure why I bought it) after having the others tear fairly quickly. Seems that Ruffwear has decided to follow the rest of the pet supply merchants and build super cheap low cost products as of late. At least that's sure what this thing feels like.Their other leashes, the roamer leash, also took a significant quality dive and became much lower quality. Thinner and easier to break. This is my last one. Too bad there aren't any quality products out there anymore now that Ruffwear has decided to reduce quality to increase profits. They've now lost another customer.

Very Disappointing Quality
I generally had a good impression of Ruffwear prior to this purchase, but this leash was not well made. I gave it two stars because I thought the design was fantastic, and even purchased a second one when the plastic clasp on the first one shattered. I was holding on to the leash when my dog saw a friend of ours and ran to him. The force caused the buckle to explode. I purchased the second one and less than a week later, the nylon webbing in the middle of the leash ripped cleanly through when I had it attached to a picnic table and my dog (an 11 month old puppy) ran after me as I was walking away. Both situations could have been dangerous had they happened in different places. if you have a toy dog this might work out well for you, but otherwise I'd stay away.

Overpriced Trash
This leash is way overpriced for what you actually receive. The leash is e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y thin. I have $9.00 leashes that don't cost this much but have much thicker pieces of nylon. The pattern is only on ONE side of the leash. My Blueberry Pet leash was only half of the price of this leash and has a thicker construction. They could have at least put a reflective trim (like the old version of this leash). Can't believe I was charged so much for this. i probably should have just bought the roamer leash. Disappointed in overpriced Ruffwear items. I'm happy to pay for nice construction. This isn't it.

Thinner but more durable
I read alot of the reviews of this product before ordering. I had the exact leash for nearly 8 years, but it was getting gross (even though I washed it in the washing machine a few times) and a tear that happened years ago was finally getting on my nerves (I had just tied it in a knot where the tear was). I was concerned by comments calling it flimsy or less durable. It is true it is flatter (less soft, less puffy) than the previous one, which makes it slightly more awkward in the hand. I use the waist wrap around option and it works the same. I think the flatter weave is more durable, less likely to tear/cut or shred. Being flatter also means it takes up a little bit less space and I can fit it in a drawer the old one would not fit in. I guess its just a trade-off; do the gains made by making it flatter/tighter weave outweigh the possible reduced comfort - it did for me.

It sucks
Very stupid design to be honest, I use a lot of ruffwear product and this is the first one I feel disappointed. The metal clip is the only good thing about this. Waist-wear without the length being adjustable? Extra metal clip but not making the leash really adjustable( it only kinda, if you are willing to have the handheld part or wrist part extremely big) the extra handheld short leash is extremely short comparing to the one Kong leash has. It just doesn't feel strong like the other stuff ruffwear is. Very disappointed. Please do not buy.

Nice clasp!
I have scissor clips for some of my horse stuff, but this is the first one I've had with a dog thing and it's nicer than anything else I have.I'm giving it 4 stars because it doesn't appear to have a dedicated D ring to put a poop bag on, and the lower handle is right above the clasp...kinda weird. However, on the former complaint the upper clasp actually opens up. I don't know why they'd do that, but I was able to attach my poop bag holder through that, so the problem was solved.I'm tempted to bump it back up to 5 stars just because of the clasp, but 5 means, to me, "no room for improvement."

Still durable!
Like a lot of reviewers have mentioned, this leash is now lighter than the original version. However, it doesn’t feel any less durable. If anything, I appreciate that it’s lighter. If you owned the previous version, the padding on the wrist strap is the same — and the clasp around it features a bit of metal compared to the plastic before. The metal on the clip is a bit lighter. Unfortunately, it squeaks a little, which is why I’m giving it four stars. I’ll continue buying these leashes and Hoopie collars; I’m only replacing this one because my dog chewed on my other one after 5 years going strong.

Great leads ... very versatile
These leads are very good. We have two Golden Retrievers and the leads are easy to attach quickly, long enough to give them some freedom and also with a loop for holding them really close. They have changed the clip mechanism at the handle end back to an older clip which is much easier to open and close than a recent model. Great for threading through railings while you pop into the shop. They also come in different colours …. makes it easier to quickly know which dog is which …. and I think they get used to their very own lead too!!!! This one is black.

Sturdy and easy to clip on and off
This is the 3rd ruffwear lead that I have had and they have all been good purchases,The last lead was the only one that let me down, the rivet on the steel/alloy harness clip wore out the lead it self was perfect faded yes but solid I think I had that one for 8 years perhaps more anyway this is lighter overall, the lead seem just as solid although the material is differentI am always happy to recommend Ruffwear, they are the best lit when it comes to dog walking in my opinionThey are more expensive than some but they are quality, long last and the waist clip function is handy when you are attending to his business leaving your two hands freeYou get what you pay for ....... and these leads and harnesses are the best

Really good lead great length flat so doesn’t tangle up
Such a good lead brilliant easy to use !!I just can’t use the flexi leads and more and wanted a good long lead as a dog sitter /Walker I’m always have one -five dogs so being flat it doesn’t take up hand space or tangles up with others !!

Good running lead.
Good running lead. Would like some ‘shock absorber’ give. I like the handle close to the dog for added control at road junctions - collie thinks he always knows the way! Been using for 4 months now and still going strong!
