Love Live! Sunshine!!: Seasons One & Two [Blu-ray]

I loved the original Love Live(from now on just LL) so I was interested to see how Love Live Sunshine(now just LLS) would compare. Going in I didn’t expect it to be able to come close to LL just because how much I liked it. In the first few episodes I was telling myself it wasn’t going to be that good because it had a carbon copy feel to it and it was just going to be a retelling of LL with characters that seemed nearly identical to those seen in LL. I loved LL for many reasons that are pretty hard for me to explain because as I mentioned in my review of LL, I am a redneck country boy that has never liked this kind of music, hates dancing, and really had no reason to be drawn toward this series, but for whatever reason I watched it and for reasons that are hard to explain I loved it. From the start of LLS though Chika just felt like a remake of Honoka, then You who although was different had a Kitori vibe, Riko seemed just like Umi, Ruby seemed just like Hanayo, Hanamaru also seemed like Hanayo but they also tried to make her seem like Rin and Hanamaru and Ruby had a relationship similar to Rin and Hanayo. Then they presented Yohane to be a Nico(I mean they disguised themselves almost identically). Mari looked like she was going to be exactly like Nozomi. Dia was exactly like Eli at the beginning. Then Kanan had a “I’m too cool for this” despite what she really wanted just like Maki but she was the most new feeling. That being said I was kinda worried but as it went forward it did break away and became more original. My favorite character was Kanan though. I loved her because she was just awesome and I liked her personality and she is also the most attractive and her eyes are just so pretty. Second is Hanamaru who just had a special spot with me possibly because I’m a country boy, but I immediately loved her. Third is You because she was just a very personable character. I also felt bad for her because just like Mari didn’t know she was the founding member with Chika, I had kinda forgotten that too because Riko kinda took her place. Fourth is a shocker, Yohane. I fully expected to hate Yohane mainly because I didn’t like Nico, but Yohane was actually a really good character, she was odd and eccentric but she was not annoying at all and she always seemed to fit in with the group. Also listen to Deep Resonance and Yohane will blow you away with her vocals. Fifth is Riko which is a surprise because I originally really liked her and thought she would be my favorite and nothing changed and I didn’t like her any less, I just started liking the others more. Her fear of dogs was entertaining. Sixth is Mari who I thought I wasn’t going to like because she seemed so much like Nozomi(who I loved). I don’t like carbon copy characters even if the character they copy is great, however I ended up loving Mari and even though she and Nozomi are both similar and very much “free spirits” I felt like she set herself apart. Seventh is Ruby who continued to grow on me the entire series but with the competition she was against she couldn’t climb any higher. Eighth is Chika who just never escaped the Honoka mold and as such I can say I don’t dislike her at all but I just saw her as a watered down Honoka(I really liked Honoka). Ninth leaves Dia who is my least favorite because I personally find her personality least likeable but she is still good and is in no way like Nico(my least favorite from LL who I actually did dislike). LLS ended up giving LL a run for its money because I felt it stayed on point the entire time and didn’t get distracted with the story. For instance my only issue with LL was that season 2 started very shaky and was disorganized and seemed to be trying to create forced drama to have an unnecessary episode, LLS avoided this. The music from the show was better in LL than LLS because the music in this one wasn’t as good except for Omoiyo Hitotsuninare which was a great song. That being said the music of Aqours that is good is amazing and they have some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard. I still prefer Muse for upbeat music. Nothing can beat Start Dash and No Brand Girls. In the end I really didn’t want to say LLS is better than LL and still don’t know if I want to say that but I will say they stayed on track with their story and the characters as a whole were better by a tiny margin mainly because of Nicos negative effect, but I got to give LL credit for being more original and starting everything off. One thing about Aqours is that I could tell even before Saint Snow called them out on it that they were more lax and didn’t take their training as seriously. That doesn’t necessarily mean it is a bad thing though because as a high school group the amount of effort they are putting in is still respectable. That also doesn’t mean Aqours seemed to be not serious or that they weren’t trying their best, but they just didn’t have as much extreme training as others. For instance Hanamaru obviously wasn’t as conditioned as others but that doesn’t mean she can’t perform one song adequately for love live, so the amount of training was adequate and they learned their routines were learned and perfected. Saint Snow was pretty good as well. I expected to dislike them at first but Sarah and Leah were great once you get to know them. As far as audience this is a fairly kid friendly show with Mari doing some groping being the most inappropriate thing. The other thing is I guess you could consider their outfits “fan service” but I feel like it’s not done in an inappropriate way so there are no camera angles that make anything sexual and it’s basically, just like I mentioned in my LL review, what you would expect to see watching a half time performance at a high school football game, and when they go to the beach it’s like if you go to the beach and see girls in bikinis, again with no sexual poses or camera shots. Also I don’t like shows that push girl on girl romance, and although fans like “shipping” characters, their is nothing that is presented in the show that makes you think there is any romance between characters but they are all close friends that “love” each other but there is nothing indicating romantic interest in another character.

Love Live! Sunshine!! at first feels like a retread of the first Love Live! anime. But as the series continues, you find nothing quite goes the same. Honestly, I like this series more than the original one. There's more going on between the characters, it's funnier, and it's more inspiring.This Blu-Ray set has every episode from seasons 1 and 2, so the price is pretty decent. The bonus features are nothing special. This set also has a code if you want to get access to a digital version of the show on your Funimation account. No, you can't use it with any other streaming services.Sunshine!! is a good anime and a great introduction to Aqours—whose songs I've been listening to constantly lately. I don't know if Love Live has ever released a bad song. Anyway, this show's worth a watch if you like a bit of lighthearted drama and comedy involving a bunch of quirky girls—plus good songs.

I really enjoyed this. A girl has a dream of being a school idol. With her dream she recruits various members of her high school. She experiences highs and lows, ups and downs as her dream comes to fruition.I was really surprised. It sounded very fun and light ..and it is....but there's some really, REALLY great emotional moments that caught me off guard.The English dub is really well done with each character's development progressing through the two seasons. The primarily female cast does an excellent job at bringing the script to life.I'd highly recommend....❤️

All the main characters are well developed, and certainly each have their own unique personalities.Season 1 has the 3rd years (Seniors) involved in getting to the idol song and dance finals.It all begins with the main character, Chika, a 1st year (Freshman), who wants to "shine" and starts recruiting members for the School Idol Group.Season 2 the 3rd years have graduated, but still somehow help Chika and her group "shine".It's funny, dramatic, and very enjoyable to see how they get from almost nothing to the big stage!!I also recommend the movie! It's a very worthwhile addition to this item.

First of all, if you liked the original Love Live anime you'll love Sunshine, if you like cute waifus you'll love Sunshine, if you like J-Pop and idols genres you'll love Sunshine, and, most important, if you like nice and memorable animes you'll love Sunshine.About the package, the quality of the product offered by Funimation is excellent, worth every dollar it cost. The translation of subtitles is very good, totally superb to the disaster made by NIS America with the original Love Live blu-rays. The video quality is excellent and the extras, although discreet, are acceptable.And finally, the anime came to Mexico City very fast and in impeccable condition. I'm very satisfied with the efficiency of Amazon international shipments.

Great anime for kids who like the music and dancing of the characters. My kids enjoyed it a lot and the story was at least different enough from the original series to help it stand on its own.

Love Live Sunshine is good. It's a great follow up to the original Love Live anime.

字幕を消せない点以外は全く問題ありませんでした。PS3、4でもそのまま見ることができ作品を楽しむことができました。第一期、第二期合わせてディスクは4枚なので入れ替えの手間が少なくテンポ良く視聴し続けることができました。

日本のアニメのブルーレイは高過ぎる上にムダに巻数が分割されていて辟易していたところだったのでコイツを購入しました。日本語音声も収録されていますし(字幕が消せないのは残念ですが、仕様と割り切りましょう)シンプルイズベストと言うのが相応しいかと。まぁ１～９話に１０～１３話と謎の分割には疑義を呈したいですが、気にしない人はコイツを買いましょう。シンプルで良いですね海外版日本アニメは。何故日本版もシンプルに出来んのかは謎です。聞かないのが筋なのかも知れません。

PS5で視聴。基本的に字幕は消せない。少ないディスクにたくさんのエピソードが入っていて入れ替えの頻度が少ないのが良い。日本語と英語を選ぶことができるが、挿入歌は英語でも日本語になる。

5周しました正直海外まとめ盤の購入には賛否あると思います私もあまりお勧めはしません友人にお勧めされたけどレンタルしに行くのもめんどいしこれで一気に見ちゃうかーと購入初代好きならSunshineあまりオモロくないとかアニメとして宜しくない評判を聞いていたので期待していなかったのですがなんやこれめっちゃいいやんキャラも曲もいいぞこれストーリーμ'sに憧れ追いかけ挫折ここまでは無印と一緒その後は全く逆の物語個人的にはμ'sのメンバー1人位は何らかの形で出して欲しかったかなこの商品は良い物でした映画版も一緒なら星5でもいい私はこれでSunshine好きになったんで正規円盤買います
