After about 8 months of satisfactory performance I began to experience problems. I no longer received alerts on my iPhone 6S. The events were recorded but there was no alert sound or banner on the iPhone screen. This is probably the most important aspect of the phone app.It was difficult to contact customer service. There is no published e-mail address. I tried sending a message from within the app. No success. I tried leaving a message in the form of a question on the Amazon product page. No success. Finally, I found an e-mail address within a customer review.The manufacturer did respond to my e-mail and our communications continued for several weeks. They had me try different things on the app and on the camera. They even sent me a file to upload to the camera via the micro SD card. Many of these things required me to access the actual camera. My camera is mounted about 12 feet high on a wall and requires me to climb a ladder. At age 70 and after about 20 up and down trips on the ladder over several days I decided to request a refund.The manufacturer responded with an offer for a new camera which I rejected. I insisted on a refund. All communications with the manufacturer ceased. I am currently trying to obtain a refund directly from Amazon.My revised recommendation is to not purchase this camera.I am a bit surprised that this camera has only 52 reviews as of this date as it is pretty nice and performs as advertised.The physical package is quite solid and seems to be well protected from rain water by nice gaskets at every joint. The photos do not illustrate the cable connections and this should be considered since you will have to find a way to bring the wiring into your house. There is a 40" long cable permanently mounted in the base of the camera. The cable has 3 objects at its end. One is a rubber insulated female power receptacle for the external wall-wart transformer. Another is a rubber insulated female CAT5 connection; and the third is a rubber insulated reset button.Taking these 3 objects into account suggests that you will need a pretty large hole in the wall to pass them through. Or you could mount the camera base to an outdoor electrical box with a solid cover that you could drill as required. I took the easy way out and passed the end of the wall-wart transformer through a small hole in my wall and left the camera cable on the outside coiled up. See the attached photos. The black transformer cable can be seen exiting the wall and then I filled the hole with caulk. Luckily I had an accessible attic on the other side of the wall and I had an electrical outlet where I could plug in the transformer. If you use WiFi no other connections need to be made.The wall-wart transformer has a standard looking barrel connector. I am sure it is possible to buy extension cables for this connector in case you want to make your final electrical connection far away from the camera.There are two movable joints which allows you to position the camera and then you tighten them up using a supplied Allen wrench. Setup is easy and the APP works just fine on my iPhone and iPad. There is need to use cloud storage (which is not free). All you need is a micro SD card. I used a 32GB card which costs around $8.00. That's it. You can now see both live action and saved alerts from anywhere in the world.The APP could stand some improvement. It continuously records video and sound in 1 minute increments for a time span consistent with your SD card. It alerts you to movement with a one minute recording. You'll get a tone on your phone the moment the movement occurs. The recording, however, takes a minute or two to appear on your phone. Here's where it's a little frustrating. Lets say the movement happened 50 seconds into one of the standard 1 minute recordings. Then the recorded alert you see will consist of 50 seconds of no activity and 10 seconds of movement. I think the APP could be a little more intelligent in its presentation.There are infrared lights that glow continuously to light the area at night. You can see them as dim red LEDs once it gets dark. Bugs seem to enjoy these lights so it would be nice to be able turn them off. Especially if the area you are watching is otherwise illuminated. There is no way to do this. Flying insects will cause alerts. You can, however, turn off alerts during periods of darkness. I had a different camera that offered the option to turn off the infrared lights. Perhaps this manufacturer will offer this feature in the future. This other camera also had the ability to reduce the size of the alert area. This could be handy if you have tree branches or other moving objects that might be within the range of the camera. Perhaps a slight improvement in the APP could solve this problem.You can easily take still images and make short videos from both live action and recorded alerts. These images are saved in an Album on the APP and in your phone photo album. You can then easily send it out to by text or e-mail.All-in-all I am very happy with this camera. I don't think the manufacturer has an English language website but they have an e-mail address and they promptly answered my technical questions in excellent English. The camera also includes a 12 month warranty and Amazon shows it as a no question "free returns" item.

too many hours to install. im on my third hour and still having problem after problem. still not working. very frustrating. and no customer service line. also, it makes me login everytime I open the app. it wont recognize my formatted card. it wont store any footage....wont record when im not looking, so all your shit will be gone and no recording will have taken place. cant download the app to your computer to get another screen....and on and on..most problems ever. (Update) the customer service is pretty good! They were very willing to make sure I understood how to use it. It may now be best for monitoring. But it's great for recording theives! Went from a one star to a four star since I've owned it. Not bad for the price!

Wow! This is a steal. App is super user friendly. Connected to an Ethernet cable and plug in and it’s set up! I use it to watch my cat while I’m away, and pet cameras are $100+ so this was a steal. It takes a video each time it detects motion so you can watch later with a time stamp. Picture is crystal clear. Picture of my cat for reference

Camera just needs its wall wart, included. Wirelessly connects to an access point. 2.4 gig only, same wifi as phone running the software. eSmartCam panning is jumpy. The audio from the camera and through the software sounds hollow, as if a tunnel.

Ordered one in 2019, worked great. Ordered another using buy again and a different product was supplied, you have another app and it doesn't connect to my Wi-Fi right. Was wanting to add another camera like the other. Guess another batch from overseas. Pretty disappointed.

Was impressed at first, but have changed my mind..The video quality is pretty good, especially at night, but several things irked me no end:1) after 2 weeks camera records "events", however LIVE VIEW IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, EVEN AFTER RESET.2) sensitivity: alerts on bugs and spiders, not to mention the shadow of trees during the day, even when set to lowest settings.3) cannot view images on computer via cameras IP address, only through the phone ap.4) tech support answers in 'limited' English.I don't often give such low scores, but this one earned it.EDIT: wiped device, set up again, same issues: alerts on bugs, NO LIVE VIDEO!My take? The camera is AWESOME! It’s very easy to set up and install. Where I installed it is much further than the recommended distance from the router, but it’s still very sensitive. And both day view and night view are very clear. Best choice for the best price!
