Everything about this book is delightful from the writing to the art to the story--but my favorite part of it is that it doesn't talk down to kids and it introduces children to the intriguing mystery that is our experience of time.A sixteen year old boy staying with me saw the book and picked it up curiously--who doesn't love sea glass? He paged through it, but then started reading and became deeply immersed in it. I think that tells you how well done this book is. At the end when he closed it he volunteered that he liked how the book left it up to the reader to make the connections and feel like they solved a mystery that the people in the book didn't get to solve.Can't recommend this book, for any age, enough. Well done.

You can practically smell the salt from the sea and feel the smoothness of the glass. Perfect for beach-lovers, collectors, and anyone with family traditions and a sense of wonder about the stories behind the things we find and keep.

This book was a total impulse purchase before our family beach trip, and I am so glad I bought it! The story is so sweet, and as others have said, the illustrations are beautiful. I was a little weepy at the end--the generational connection is so lovely. My children are 11 and almost 10, and they loved the story (my husband and I did also). If you plan to take little ones to the beach this year (or even if you don't!), I recommend this as one to read as a family.

A well written story that tweaked the imaginations of my 5 and 8 year old granddaughters, sparking interesting conversations. I have purchased multiple copies for gifts. The illustrations are stunning. I love the change to black and white to denote the dream sequence.

This is a wonderful book for children explaining about seaglass. It is well writeen and has a wonderful story.

We live by one of the best beaches in the world for sea glass and this story is such a delight with the boy dreaming about the origins of the sea glass that he finds on the beach. The illustrations are lovely. We will be sharing it with the grandchildren whenever they come to visit us.
