Best bang for your buck
So I received my Schecter Damien 6 Platinum a few hours ago and it is awesome. I would most definitely make this purchase again, even at the current $549 price which I did not pay by the way. This guitar was conceived, manufactured, and advertised as a metal/hard rock guitar so if that is not to your liking then look elsewhere (previous reviewer). It was built in South Korea and the craftsmanship is flawless, not a scratch, ding, dent, or blemish on it. It was delivered in its original Schecter packaging which was well padded and secure. I researched quite a few guitars before deciding this was going to be the next in my collection: mahogany body, 3 piece maple set neck construction with a rosewood fretboard and unique bat inlays, emg 81 and 85 active pickups, grover tuners, tonepros tune-o-matic bridge, and a string through body construction are features you will find on more expensive guitars, especially when combined all on one guitar, and it comes equipped with ernie ball strings. Out of the box it only required a minor tuning adjustment and I was ready to rock. It came with a 9v battery installed and 3 allen wrenches but did not come with any literature (owner's manual) I know from research you can download a manual from schecterguitars.com as well as view videos on how to care for and maintain your guitar if you don't already know how. The sound this guitar produces is metal all the way deep lows, high highs, palm mutes are nice and chunky, pinch harmonix are almost too easy with these pickups, the sustain is just ridiculous thanks to the string through design and set neck construction. I play through peavey vypyr and line six 30 watt practice amps using the onboard effects features. Overall, this guitar is ridiculously awesome I recommend this to every metal player out there. If you're reading this obviously this guitar has piqued your curiosity my advice is just buy it, at schecterguitars.com it lists for $789. I would pay that price to replace mine if anything happened and I paid a considerable amount less then that. As for Amazon thank you for listing this guitar for the price it was when I bought it, new years day sale, typo, prime pricing, it doesn't matter, thank you. I am 100% satisfied with all aspects of my transaction, price, delivery timeliness, product and product condition.

I never knew.
I had heard of Schecter guitars, but never played one. I've played Les Pauls', Strats', and I own a beautiful Carvin. All renowned, high-quality guitars. But when this Schecter arrived I was blown away! It is more beautiful in person than the online images would have you believe. It came with a note saying it was set up before shipping. And it sure was! String height was perfect, and intonation was spot on. The EMG pickups sound amazing when played at "peel the paint off the walls" distortion. While playing a 6 string chord at "full on Metallica" gain I can hear every note as clearly as the next. It just feels great in the hands as well. But I was concerned because I'm starting to play blues, and I was afraid that these pickups with all that metal DNA (have you seen who plays these?) would not sound right on this axe. I was wrong. I can get the warmest of soft, silky textured feels without any grit; or the electric, on the edge of breakup blues that must be accompanied by a bourbon. I believe this guitar may be one of the best guitars out there in its price range, and equal to many guitars costing a lot more. When I pick it up, I can't put it down. If I had the money I'd buy another one right now!

Awesome Guitar
This guitar is one of the most recent additions to the Damien lineup from schecter. Similar to the previous reviewer, mine came looking superb and all I had to do to get rocking was adjust the tuning a tiny bit after transport. I have another damien as well and the damiens seem to have a slightly wider neck profile than most of the other schecters I have, the neck on this thing is pretty thin front to back, it's just wider across the top (kinda like a classical acoustic vs a regular acoustic, but not as pronounced), so the strings are a little more spread out than on my blackjack or hellraiser extreme. That can be good for some things and bad for others, so I figured I would mention what I noticed & people can decide according to their own preferences. Has the tried and true 81/85 combo in it, which I like, but since it has the solderless wiring system, they can easily be swapped out for some SD blackouts or other active emgs if they are more to your tastes. The first one star review that other guy put up is laughable. Japan and US made guitars might have had a major edge 20 years ago, but nowadays, Korea is producing some killer quality guitars, anybody with half a bit of sense or industry awareness knows that. This guitar is also quite obviously geared more towards metal/hard rock, (I mean it's a schecter with bat inlays), and the 81/85 is pretty much the standard go-to for those genre's. I can be picky and I have absolutely no qualms with the craftsmanship on this bad boy. I was lucky enough to notice it when the price was down, but even at regular price it's a solid guitar.

Sick guitar. Go ahead and buy extra strings because my high E string was broke when un-boxed.

Great guitar for heavy music.
This guitar sounds great for heavier music. It sounds pretty decent clean but it's obviously designed for heavier sounds. The fact that the neck isn't a bolt on might be my favorite part about the guitar. It sounds great through an amp and on recordings.
