Heart of Glass (Fostering Love Book 3)

Book 3 in Fostering Love Lots more emotion
Book three in this book brings us Trevor and Morgan. In the last book Trevor and his family are dealt the news of Henry's death and now in this book we are seeing some of the fallout that Henry left behind leaving Trevor to deal with it. That fallout is Morgan and more importantly Henry's baby Etta, the baby no one had a clue existed. Trevor doesn't expect to fall for Morgan but he does. Bringing Morgan and and Etta back home to be close to the rest of the family helps the two grow closer and Trevor falls in love with both girls. Although it is sad that Henry is gone now we know Etta will have the family she so deserves. I really love this series and cannot wait for Alex's story.

No angst or antagonism
3.5-4 stars. Compared to the first 2 books which were very angsty and antagonistic, this was nothing like those stories. The main obstacle that this plot had going for it was the forbidden aspect, which really wasn't too forbidden vs the other previous stories in the grand picture. Trevor was awesome. But maybe too awesome if there is such a thing? Because he fell hard and right away and did everything right. Not that I couldn't appreciate that about him, but the romance seemed to go from friendly flirting and then nosedived right into the physical aspect and I felt a bit blindsided by it because the build up wasn't this mounting tension that I could feel in the air, I thought that it was kind of subdued and would continue to follow that trajectory, but it didn't. And while the attraction was obvious and mutual, the emotional entanglement was more of a hard sell to me because that part didn't seem to convince me as easily. The obstacles just didn't seem as big of roadblocks as they were made out to be. I liked Trevor and Morgan as characters, but Etta was my favorite. The ending was rather abrupt, too. So if the first 2 books left you feeling exhausted and then you needed something lighter and easier afterwards in this series, then this would fit that bill.

A decidedly different vibe from the first 2 books, but still a romantic page turner full of emotion.
3.5 STARSSeveral things stand out when I try to describe this wholly unforgettable series of standalone romances. First, they're usually heavy with angst and heartache... And I LOVE that. The emotion and complicated dynamics in each of these books make for a heart stopping, breathtaking reading experience. Second, they're all layered and woven together meticulously. The characters all have such rich history that kind of comes full circle in their adulthood. Their dynamics change, they evolve from everything they once were into something entirely different and it's so DELICIOUS as it happens. And third, and most importantly, each story is a powerful testament to what it means to be a family, what it truly means to make a family that has nothing to do with blood but rather the people who step up and claim you as theirs with zero expectations or conditions. It's a beautiful undercurrent running through each story, and there's nothing redundant about any of them. Each book is a must read, refreshing story of love and familial bonds and I can't get enough of them. But here's the thing. I feel this intense need to go back and reread this book because I feel like I missed something important. Heart of Glass felt a bit instalove-ish, like the fall into love came out of nowhere, and I feel like that stems from the fact that I don't feel like I got to know these characters well enough. There was something notably absent from the build up of their relationship that I can't pinpoint but it was pivotal. There's a lot going on in this book though. There's familial drama and a whole lot of backstory and there's drama with side characters and there's a ton of push and pull between Trevor and Morgan. So the integral part of their romance might've taken a backseat. This was still a great story, it was just missing something.Morgan is not an easy character to figure out. She is sometimes so stubborn and difficult that it makes her unlikable. But I also totally got her. Her life hasn't been easy, she's taken care of herself and then her daughter alone for so long, she doesn't roll over easily to let anyone get close. Trevor is the opposite. He's so sweet, the eternal protector, the mama's boy that's always there whenever anyone needs him. He's open and honest with his feelings whereas Morgan is pretty closed off. I almost wanted him to make Morgan grovel for not appreciating him a little more. I wanted to see some Shane come out in him. But that's just not Trevor and as much as I was frustrated by how easily he rolled with the punches, I also very much appreciated that he was never going to be the guy that did or said something out of line in the heat of that frustration. He's solid and Morgan needed solid. Their entire dynamic was a refreshing one and as much as I missed the angst and fiery passion of Unbreak My Heart, I could also appreciate the author's decision not to give her readers a repeat of the story that's already been written. This was a really cute story at the end of the day. Heart of Glass is a slow burning romance that evolves from something tragic but becomes something full of hope. It definitely lacks the fire and angst that the first two standalone novels of this series brimmed with but it's not a super light story by any means. I can't lie and say that I didn't miss the angst a bit but there's a lot that this story has going for it. Heart of Glass has a decidedly different vibe but it's a romantic page turner full of emotion and I really did enjoy it.

Sweet
I have definitely enjoyed the Fostering Love series! While it may sound like a taboo storyline, it’s really not. After his brother dies unexpectedly, Trevor learns that his brother left behind a daughter the family didn’t know about. Trevor seeks out to meet Morgan and her daughter, Etta. He wants to meet Etta and make sure they are cared for.Trevor and Morgan’s story is filled with all varying emotions, from grief to intense love. It’s a great addition to the series. I definitely recommend. I love all of Nicole Jacquelyn’s books!

Enjoying the book and CD reference
I enjoyed the book but really I just wanted to say how cool I thought it was that the author shamelessly promoted cloth diapers. I'm a huge fan of cloth diapering. Maybe some mommy on maternity leave will pick up this book (which is a good read) and think to themselves, "Hey maybe I should look into this cloth diaper thing!"

Another great story !!!!!
I don't think Nicole can write a bad book, everything that she writes is awesome. Trevor is one of the most tender guys that i have read in this series so far. I would definitely recommend this book and the redt of the series if your haven't read them yet.

Good but not great
Still a good and heartfelt book in the Fostering Love series but it was missing the warmth of the family dynamic that the previous two books had. I loved Trevor, he was a sweetheart but Morgan was just eh. I hope the next one in the series is better.

A good story...
Angst filled, passionate, sexy...all words I could use to describe this book. Nicole Jacquelyn makes me feel everything when I read her words. This was a heartwrenching story, not quite as engaging as book one in the series, but a good story nonetheless...

enjoyable just missing the chemistry from previous books
Aagh I love this author and waited so long for this book . I enjoyed it but for me it was missing the chemistry and Angst from the last two books . It’s still very well written . I just couldn’t take to these characters the way I did to the others .

Fab Read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great storyline, great characters and I read it in one day. My only criticism is I felt like the story finished very abruptly. I even had to go back a page or two to check I hadn't missed anything as it seemed like the story just stopped mid story which left me feeling a bit bereft at the ended. I wanted more. Other than that a great book and a brilliant addition to the series.
