44/45 Caliber Brown Leather Gun Holster

Very well made, great leather work.
Well made, very pretty, and fit as advertised! I used this holster for a Ruger .44 Mag Super Blackhawk. It fit the 6in Barrel with room to spare at the bottom. The gun rides a little high in the holster and the leather is stiff so the fit is not as smog as I had hoped. That being said, I wore this rig when I did some SERIOUS south TX hunting and the gun stayed in place perfectly. I was climbing, crawling, and sliding all over the place and I never worried about losing my pistol. The ammo rings held the .44s very securely. The only reason I didn’t give this rig 5 stars isn’t because I’m not the biggest fan of the leather string that slips over the hammer to hold it down. It makes quick drawing the gun .... not so quick. However it secures the gun very nicely and at the end of the day that is the most important thing! I would highly recommend this setup, it looks and feels great!!

Very nice.
A great gun belt. I've been looking forward to getting this type of belt for a long time, and found this one. Based on the reviews I bought it, and it is definitely worth the price. It is Mexican made, and for those of you who know a little about leather, you know that Mexican handcrafted leather work is some of the best. The bullet loops were a little bit loose, but not so bad that I am afraid the bullets will fall out.I debated how many sizes to go up, and based on other people's reviews I went 6 inches above my pant size. This was a mistake. I am 6' 190 lbs, and I wear a pant size of 36. I should have ordered 4 inches bigger, then I would probably be tightening it to the second to last hole. As it is, I am tightening the belt all the way to the last hole, and it still is in danger of falling down (especially with a .44 Mag with a 6 inch barrel, lots of weight there). It was my mistake, so I'm not going to base my overall review on that. So if you wear your pants a little looser, go with the recommended 2 inch increase, or maybe a 4 inch increase. If I had a reason to, I would definitely buy this same holster. I am very pleased with it, and it seems sturdy enough to last for many years.Edit 11-19-15: I took some of the ammo or of the loops the other day, and found corrosion on the cases. It is obviously the chemicals used in the leather finishing process, so just be warned not to leave ammo in it for months at a time. (I estimate the ammo had been in there for 5-6 months)

Good and Bad
I have a 36 inch waist. I ordered a 44 inch one originally for myself, but when it came I thought it was a little large when I sent it across my waist and allowed it to hang down to the right (like a gun belt should). I sent it back and asked for 2 inches smaller. So, I sent it back (the customer service was great); I paid for shipping, and when the new one came it was so small I couldn't wrap it around my waist and it fit my wife instead. She loves her new gun belt. So, happy and sad? It's like that episode of the Simpson's when homer ordered a bowling ball for Marge with his name engraved on it. My wife didn't know it was originally for me so I kinda look like a thoughtful hero *wink*Moral of the story, I don't know. Just watch out for those sizes. When you order a few inches longer than your belt size it will fit your thigh, but if you overshoot it, the belt will fall down your legs.

I am a bit disappointed with this product
I am a bit disappointed with this product. I am comparing it to another rig I bought for about $140.00 at a gun show and have seen the same rig online for the same price. The measurement directions are pretty much on. I take a 36 blue genes and I ordered a size 40 rig. I might have gotten by with a 38. There are 5 holes in the belt and I am on the next to last hole. The 5th hole is unusable because it is too close to the sewing and rivet. The snap closure on the holster broke when I tried to unsnap it. That makes me wonder about the strength and quality of the other rivets. The finish on the rig is shiny. It looks as if it was sprayed on not worked into the leather. The leather is all double thickness and all of it is single stitched. The tooling is probably done by machine but it is attractive and seems to be well done. There are 14 cartridge loops. They seem a little loose but should do alright. I have 3 guns I could use with this. The 7 1/2 Ruger Blackhawk sticks out the bottom by about 1 1/2 inches, the 6 1/2 inch Blackhawk about 3/4 inch and the 5 1/2 Uberti Cattleman is fully covered. Even though the longer guns stick out the bottom, they draw easily with no interference. I also have a New Vaquero 3 3/4 inch that fits fine. The hammer thong is tight enough to securely hold all of the guns. I also have a 6 inch Smith & Wesson 629 that fits in it even though the rig is mainly designed as a single action holster. Because of the finish of the leather I am not sure it would hold up well to more than casual use which is all I will be giving it anyway. I give it a 3 or 3.5 because of the broken snap, the finish of the leather and the tie down strap and hammer thong are only dyed on one side with the underside a gray color. I realize that this is a low end product but that shows me a lack of attention to detail. If I didn't have the other rig that was comparably priced to compare it to I would probably have given it a 4. I bought this because I had a Amazon gift card.

Buy it pardner.
Subtract one star for sizing. I recommend adding six inches to your current waist size, not 4. A 42 inch waist pant is loose on me but this 46 rig (their biggest) is a tight fit. I would send it back but it is too nice and they dont make a bigger size than 46. The leatherwork is beautiful and looks nicer than many others i have seen that cost more. If you can get the right size, this is probably the best 'bang for your buck' pun intended. I guess it is time to diet. To the makers of this rig...if you make one size larger, i will buy it.
