Shaykh Musa Furber's new annotated translation of the Shafi'i fiqh classic Risala al Jami'ah is a welcomed addition to the many classical Islamic works translated into the English language by specialists in the field. His translation includes the full Arabic text along with notes that elucidate basic text and provides scriptural evidence. This text is excellent for beginners who are interested in the study of Islamic Jurisprudence.

A highly recommended book skillfullly translated with great potential to benefit individuals and communities.
This new translation of the classical text "Al- Risalah al-Jami'ah wa al-Tadhkirah al-Nafi'ah" is a much needed and practicable book for Muslims of any traditional school of thought. While the chapters on law focus on the popular school of al-Imam al-Shafi'i (with each of the foundational acts of worship covered), there is an abundance of beneficial material for everyone including sections on the fundamental aspects of religious belief, and an inclusively broad section on spiritual qualities and diseases. The presentation of the original work is elegant and astutely accessible, with the vowelled Arabic text given along with a masterful English translation written in bold type and supporting notes and evidences given throughout the entire book. At the back of the book the text is given (again in vowelled Arabic) with just the translation on the facing page, allowing the student of Arabic an uninterrupted read. Also included is a special supplication in Arabic with its translation and a useful transliteration, while an extensive bibliography opens the door for further research on the topics covered. A brief overview of the translator Musa Furber is given which points towards his scholarly qualifications to have undertaken this project, cementing the authenticity and reliability of this work.In a time when some members of Muslim communities are attempting to engage in polemics far above and beyond their remit rather than leaving such discourse to the scholars and experts, the result is often a combination of confusion, a heedless disregard for the wellbeing of others, and a vicious cycle of enmity. This book has the potential to break this paradigm. It serves (amongst other things) as a sorely needed and refreshing reminder for the masses about what to believe, how to interact with God, how to treat one another, and how to aspire to better oneself, while at the same time empowering those actively engaged in the study of Islam with the confidence and understanding of the scriptural basis for their religious practices. With its fluid translation, altruistically economical price and pleasing layout, it is this reviewer's hope that it become a core text used in religious courses around the world. The Muslim community as a whole owes a debt of gratitude to Musa Furber, and should eagerly hope for and await the release of more publications from Islamosaic.

Succinct accurate translation
Succinct translation accurately conveying the well received and widely used original arabic text into English.A much needed introductory primer covering the basics of belief, (sha'fi) fiqh of worship and tazkiyyah in a short text. As always the translator has scrupulously translated the work focussing on clarity and precision allowing the reader to assured in the accuracy of the translation. The footnotes are illustrated with textual evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah allowing the reader to contextualise the work, without detailed explanatory notes which would change the nature of this brief text.

Great!
I like what Musa Furber has done with this book, he's taken the very short primer, translated it, and added annotations -- mostly evidences for the obligations and their applications in today's time. At the same time, he made a section towards the end that's simply a side-by-side translation without any notes or annotations, and that helps read the text in one go.I hope to pick up more of Musa's translations now that I'm impressed with this work!
