The locks might be good, but If you live in the USA - DO NOT BUY THIS FROM THE UK AMAZON STORE! I bought 2 locks - the Abus 6100 and the Abus Granite X. The locks look nice, but I can't use either one! The 6100 came with the combo already set. The Granite X came with no keys - no way to open the LOCK! The packaging of the locks both looked like someone had already used them and returned them (with missing items)! The price is cheaper by half of what it is at a bike store - but you get what you pay for! I got 2 locks that I am shipping back tot he UK (what a pain). Do NOT buy this from the AMAZON UK store if you live in the USA!

I had one of these for my ebike and ordered a second one. As much as I would have liked to have gotten the granite, I hate carrying extra keys.One thing that's different is the case. I bought one a couple weeks back and it had a spring loaded clamp for holding the lock. So you didn't need a lot of room on top to pull it off. This one had a flap and slides into the holder so it requires more clearance. I don't know which design is more current. But the swing clamps work better.I also got this through warehouse and the default numbers didn't work. I tried different combinations and finally 5555 worked.So a little less than ideal, but worked nonetheless.It's just a tad on the short side.Overall, its easy and convenient,And I'd say good for quick trips.I've seen it defeated and would only use it to a supplement for overnight security.

Really cool design. My previous cable lock stopped working, and I'm glad it did. When i started to research a replacement, I was shocked at the horror stories I came across for literally all types of bike locks. This is something I never took too seriously, but would be utterly DEVASTATING if I failed to take the proper precautions and lose my precious bike. At this point, it goes beyond sentimental value. Thousands of miles, daily riding... it would be tough.So, I liked the convenience of cable lock, but it is too easily (and more importantly, quickly) snipped with the right tools. A U lock (or a D lock as they call it in Europe) is on the absolute other end of the spectrum. Not convenient, limited in range, heavy, obtrusive...I believe this lock from Abus to be the perfect balance. I am more limited in the circumference of the support I am using, especially if I want to include either the front or back wheel along with the frame. It hasn't been enough of a change to come even close to being an issue.At first, it seems a little strange to use. However, that quickly changed. It is incredibly easy to put this lock on, even easier than a cable with likes to coil back in place. Just hold the lock housing with the combination facing you, the links literally do the rest with minimal fuss.The best part of this package is the slim profile and holster. It is completely out of the way, no impacts to wind drag if placed properly. I use the velcro straps to secure it to the seat post where the 2nd water bottle would be. I thought about mounting, but I wanted the option of quickly moving the lock to a different bike.Really glad I chose this lock. Perfect balance of security, convenience, weight, minimalism... I thought about going with the 6500 but I imagine it would be too heavy, would be wider and therefore likely stick out beyond the frame of the bike slightly. I am not in a bad city for bike thefts, so I didn't think sacrificing weight, size and the extra cash was worth it. Your circumstances may vary.

So. Its an awesome deterrent, but probably not an overnighter. Thats ok bc the mfr is forward that this is a medium security device.....i like it alot, I am not carrying a 5# chain around, and it fits around bigger stuff than a u-lock. The mechanism is a bit needy... ev'thg needs to be liked up perfectly...the digits, the receiving aperture... I've only had it for a week, but i like the versatility...I think it's going to be a win.💙

This is a pricey lock and it should be longer so it would be easier to wrap around a pole and the bike frame and tire. It's to short. For the locks that are longer they get quite expensive. The recommendation is to run the lock through the frame and back wheel and then around a pole . It's just to short to get around all those items.

I bought this lock to secure my commuting bike. It is a moderate security lock - I keep my bike in a controlled access bike cage in the parking garage at my office, for which I am comfortable with this lock. Not sure I would rely on it as sole protection in a high theft area or with a super expensive bike. Having the combination lock is great - no keys to have to carry around. I’ve mounted the case on the water bottle braze-ons on my downtube - very convenient and secure place to carry the lock.

I purchased these for my bike and my wifes bike. The 75cm version of this lock is just too short. The 90cm version of this lock is better. And, you can string multiple of these locks together to form a longer, but very strong locking system around multiple bikes. These locks are surpringly heavy for their size, but they are so much better than cable locks. The case that comes with them is very good.

I'm sure this device could be compromised by any sufficient motivated thief. After all very few things can survive a focused assault.But this does a good job of deterring most everyone else who may be inclined to want your bike.It's solid and fits nicely, within its cradle (included), to the proscribed carrier ports on my bike frame, and functions as expected. The cradle also comes with a set (2) of velcro straps to help with keeping it securely attached to the bike. Setting up the combination was easy and straightforward, too.If it lacks anything it's that it could be longer, but I suppose doing so would make it too bulky and heavy for most uses. It is adequate and is doing the job I expected it to do.

Eines vorweg, worüber man sich im klaren sein sollte bei der Wahl eines Schlosses. Jedes Schloss kann geknackt werden. Natürlich gibt es Schlösser die es Dieben besonders einfach machen und solche die etwas länger standhalten. Sicherheit muss aber immer mit Gewicht, am besten in Form eines Bügelschlosses erkauft werden.Für alle die nicht bereit sind ein 2kg Bügelschloss zu transportieren bietet ein Faltschloss evtl. einen guten Kompromiss.Tests haben gezeigt dass das Bordo 6000/6100 durchaus mit einem Bolzenschneider zu brechen ist. Und ja, auch ein Mutternsprenger funktioniert. Sicherer als mit einem Spiralschloss ist man aber auf jeden Fall, man sollte die zwei wichtigsten Dinge beim Anschließen beachten. Immer an einem festen Gegenstand anschließen und dabei möglichst hoch, dass ein Bolzenschneider nicht am Boden abgestützt werden kann.Nun aber zum eigentlichen Schloss. Am Bordo 6100 hat mich gereizt, dass es sehr sauber und kompakt am Rahmen transportiert werden kann, dass es einen mittleren Diebstahlschutz bietet, außerdem sehr Haltbar bzgl. Witterungseinflüssen ist und ich keinen Schlüssel vergessen kann.In den meisten Punkten erfüllt das Schloss meine Erwartungen und hätte sich vier Sterne verdient. Bei der ersten Fahrt jedoch hat mich sofort das laute Klappern genervt. Ich hatte mich extra für die Variante mit der Gummihalterung (ST) entschieden da ich bei der Hartplastikhalterung (SH) mit Klappern gerechnet hätte.Mit zwei Filzgleitern, auf den Fotos zu erkennen, bekommt man das Klappern einigermaßen in den Griff. In dieser Preisklasse erwarte ich aber ein Produkt an dem ich nicht selbst Hand anlegen muss. Daher von mir drei Sterne und dennoch eine Kaufempfehlung wenn man sich der oben genannten Punkte bewusst ist.

Achtung! Totale Fehlkonstruktion!Zahlencode lässt sich sehr wohl im geschlossenen Zustand mit verdrehtem Code für jedermann ändern.Man kann das Schloss so nicht ohne weiteres öffnen, jedoch ist jeder von uns in der Lage den Code in verschlossem Zustand zu verändern.Ich konnte die einzelnen Rezessionen zu diesem Thema nicht glauben, wurde nun aber eines besseren belehrt.Ich habe das Schloss sofort zurückgeschickt, die Gefahr eines üblen Streiches ist mir zu hoch.Eigentlich ein Armutszeugnis für ABUS!

Ich kann von dem Zahlenschloss nur abraten, nach einigen Monaten Benutzung war das Rad spurlos verschwunden - und das an einem normalen Abstellort vor dem Büro zwischen 10 und 16 Uhr, kein U-Bahnhof oder ähnliches. Angeschlossen an einem festen Stahlgeländer. Es war kein außergewöhnliches Rad, aber schon ganz gut und 1,5 Jahre alt.Bei dem Preis erwartet man bessere Qualität, es gibt wohl auch Youtube Anleitungsvideos fürs Knacken.

Ich wollte es nicht glauben, dass Abus ein Schloss baut, bei dem jeder den Code verstellen kann. Ich benötigte ein neues Schloss und habe es mir trotzdem bestellt und ausprobiert.Leider muss ich bestätigen, dass der Code verstellbar ist, ohne dass das Schloss geöffnet wurde. Ich kann also meinen Vorrednern, die diesen Punkt angesprochen haben, nur recht geben.Dabei ist mir folgendes aufgefallen. Ich habe einen Code auf 9999 eingestellt und das geschlossene Schloss auf 8888 gestellt. Dann haben ich im geschlossenen Zustand den Programmierregler aktiviert und auf 7777 gestellt und dann den Regler wieder zurück gestellt. Weder bei 9999 noch bei 7777 lies sich das Schloss öffnen. Es ging aber beim Code 8888 auf. Also wird der vorhandene Code um die Anzahl der Stellen verschoben, die man im geschlossenen Zustand mit aktivierter Programmierung weiter gedreht hat.Wenn sich jemand den Scherz erlaubt, den Code zu verstellen, dann weiß man ja leider nicht um wie viele Stellen der Code verschoben wurden. Somit darf Mann dann alle Zahlenkombinationen, 10.000, durchprobieren um das Schloss geöffnet zu bekommen.Einen Spezialschlüssel um den Programmierregler zu verschieben, benötigt man nicht. Ein Schraubenzieher reicht.Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich sprachlos bin, dass Abus so stümperhaft gearbeitet hat.Schade eigentlich, dass dieser Fehler vorhanden ist, denn ansonsten macht das Schloss einen sehr soliden Eindruck und ich hätte es gerne verwendet.Natürlich erfüllt das Schloss seinen Zweck, denn das Rad wird nicht geklaut, aber wenn ich selber es nicht mehr öffnen kann, dann ist mir auch nicht geholfen.Jetzt kann man sich die Frage stellen wie oft dies vorkommt, dass einer die Zahl im geschlossenen Zustand ändert, ich weiß es natürlich nicht. Zum einem muss derjenige es wissen, dass dies geht und zum anderen muss er einem was böses wollen um den Code zu verstellen.Aber ein böser Streich kann immer passieren, gerade wenn das Rad an der Schule steht.Natürlich wissen es umso mehr Personen, wenn man es hier schreibt, aber Abus sollte einfach Schlösser bauen, die durchdacht sind und nicht an der falschen Stelle sparen.Ich hoffe nur, dass Abus draus lernt und das Nachfolgemodell diesen Fehler nicht mehr hat.

Wie so manche andere hatte auch ich das problem, dass ich das Schloss nicht mehr öffnen konnte. Eine Verwechslung der Zahlen ist nicht möglich, es war die Kombination, die ich seit Jahren bei einem andern Schloss benutze. Wenn es einen Bedienungsfehler von mir beim Einstellen gab, dann kann ich nur sagen: Die Anleitung auf der Packung ist falsch, missverständlich oder bescheuert. Oder es war alles richtig und das Schloss taugt einfach nichts. Für alle die es trotzdem kaufen wollen: mit einer Flex war das Teil in 30 Sekunden durch.
