Simply plug the Drone into the USB port of your computer, and it will immediately connect with your Bluetooth headset or headphones to provide streaming music and voice over a 100 meter (328ft) range. There is no software to install because the Drone has on-board software which communicates with your headset. The computer sees the Drone as a USB speaker and simply routes the audio automatically. When a Skype call comes in, Drone switches over to the call automatically. When used with the Dragon headset you can enjoy the full 100 meter range. Supports A2DP (Stereo) Bluetooth profile.

Does NOT work with Mac
I would have liked to give it a "no rating" rating, because I can't say how the Drone works IF it works.Forget using it to stream music from your MacBook Pro, though. Won't get the job done. You'll hear the stream for a nan-second, then it will collapse and you'll get an alert, tellingyou that there's no interface for the new sound card (the Drone).Checking the callpod website for a driver you'll find out: There is none.Sure, you may be able to use it for data transfer (but the MacBook is very well equipped for that). However; it is not an alternative to airtunes. Pity!

Horrible
Did NOT work as described. Don't waste your money on this product. Horrible sound quality. Horrible range. Constant dropped signal even 1 foot apart.

Advertised to extend Bluetooth range further than a normal Bluetooth adapter.
Purchased it to extend range as advertised, couldn't get it to work so I contacted the company '[email protected]' with the question,<snip>Will the 'Drone' also increase the bluetooth connectivity of a bluetooth wireless keyboard or is it somehow only for audio equipment?</snip>and recieved a response.<snip>Hello,Thank you for contacting us.The Drone will not increase the Bluetooth connectivity of a wireless keyboard. It can only be used in conjunction with a computer or printer.Regards,Callpod Support Team</snip>At any rate it has now taken its rightful place in the bottom of my rubbish bin.Never worked and was a complete waste of money. If i could have worked out how to send it back to amazon I would have.

Call Pod Drone
I loved every CallPod Item to date. Haven't really used this yet. I expect it'll do fine.

another dead dream item
I wanted to use my bluetooth plantronics headset to talk on skype and thought this would be the easiest way to go. It probably is but it just doesn't work at all as advertised. 100 meter range, yeah right...about 100 inches. Another of technologies failures

does what it says
Does what it offers to do. I recommend it. Support, when in doubt, is excellent. I have no financial interest in the company. Check out their web page.

Very good quality, easy set-up, minor flaw
Overall, this product delivers on its promise. I plugged it into the USB slot and it automatically changed the sound card settings on the laptop and paired with my Plantronics 590A. Operation with the softphone application in my Dell laptop is flawless. A surprising bonus is that the sound quality for music is slightly better than with my old generic cheapo bluetooth dongle. One drawback I can see is that when you install it, it sets itself as the default system sound card, and the only way to restore sound to the speakers is either to unplug it when not in use or change settings through the control panel. To me, this is a minor inconvenience, and the superior sound quality is worth the hassle.

Works great with Mac OS X
I bought this to use with some Sony DR-B21G Bluetooth headphones on various Macs. Mac OS X has built-in support for A2DP but the sound quality is terrible, and I didn't want to keep using a stereo line-in transmitter with a separate battery. The Callpod Drone couldn't be easier to use on the Mac; just plug it in and select it as the output source (you can ignore the window that pops up regarding a keyboard). The AVRCP controls on the headphones are automatically sent to iTunes with no configuration, which is great! Sound quality is fantastic. Two downsides I've noticed (and they're minor):- Reconnect time takes a -long- time, far longer than with a previous transmitter I've used. Sometimes takes up to 30 seconds.- I get intermittent drop-outs, usually only for a half-second or so, but sometimes so bad that I need to power off/on the headphones. This happens more frequently at the office where there are a *lot* of BT keyboards and mice around, so there might not be anything that can be done about it.Overall a good product and highly recommended.
