Expensive but so cute
Did I really have to spend nearly $30 to hold salt on my counter. Probably not. But, it's so cute and it is convenient to one-handedly add salt to my dishes.

Good product that needed adjustment
Overall I like the product but as others have noted the little wooden lid was cockeyed when I got it. I removed both screws, realigned the lid, drilled new holes, and reassembled. Now it’s fine. If I didn’t need to do that I would’ve given it five stars. You would think that after hearing enough of the same issue the company would do better but they obviously don’t care whether the lids are misaligned or not.

this thing is genius
This has clearly been designed by people who cook, and it simply works perfectly. The lid is designed such that it lifts out of the way when you slide a hand in to grab a pinch of salt, and falls back down when you retract your hand. You're never blocked from grabbing salt, you never need a second hand to twist off a lid, you never need to find the lid you threw somewhere while stirring with your other hand. I wouldn't mind a slighter finer looking wooden lid and hinge for the price, but the functionality of this so far exceeds other salt cellars that I'm not going to dock it a star for that.

Poor quality for the price
Fell in love with this little salt box awhile back. I loved the easy open lid and handle, but hesitated to buy it due to the price combined with quality issues reported by reviewers. I went ahead and bought it thinking maybe I’d get lucky and get a “good” one, but that wasn’t the case. The glaze doesn’t come all the way down the sides to the base, so you can see a strip of white all the way around at the bottom. The lid is also not properly seated per the photo of the front I’ve attached to my review. I’d expect quality like this on a something half the price. VERY disappointing at $33. Should have listened to my gut. No more Zero Japan products for me.
