Couples perfectly with the F-106N, build solidly - UPDATED
There's not a lot one could say about a drain coupler/extender.I've always been impressed with Fumoto's craftsmanship and quality. This product is no exception.I bought the Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve  to replace the stock drain plug on my Honda Accord. On this particular model of the Accord, the oil drain plug sits in a recess on the oil pan body, and the ADL-106 is needed to first "come out" of the recess. The ADL-106 coupled perfectly with the F-106N.The ADL-106 can be tightened with a 19 mm socket, and the F-106N can be tightened with a 17 mm socket. One of the most important aspects of any drain plug is the thread quality. The threads on the ADL 106 are machined perfectly, and the included washer is of high quality.UPDATE 9/17/2012I want to provide an update on the product.Over the weekend, I finally got around to installing the ADL-106 and F-106N on my Honda. Unfortunately, I managed to torque the threaded portion of the coupler off the main body of the coupler. Horror, horror. Now I had about 1/2" of a threaded pipe sitting snug inside the drain pan. Luckily, I had a screw/bolt extractor set, and I was able to get the threaded piece out of the drain pan.I want to give a shout out to Fumoto here. I emailed them this morning, requesting a free replacement. I didn't know what to expect. Most manufacturers wouldn't give me the time of day. But within 2-3 hours, Fumoto got back to me, and offered to ship me a free replacement! I was already a fan of their product lineup and quality, but now I can safely say that their customer service is also topnotch.

Great if you need it.
Review the manufactures website carefully for your specific application. If they tell you that you need the adapter, then you need it. Looking under my 2007 honda accord, I thought I could get by without it, and I was wrong. When i was going to install the components, I noticed there was no blue washer around the adapter as shown in the picture, I am not sure if it came like that, or I lost it while handling. I think I probably lost it.. But regardless, Fumoto sent me a replacement washer immediately. I had already installed without the washer. They said to keep an eye on it, and if it started to leak, replace the components with the washer. Everything was fine for a few weeks, but low and behold, it started to leak. I emptied the oil into a pan (which was easy because of the Fumoto adapter), and reinstalled the components with the washer. It has been over a month now and no leaks at all. This product was GREAT for letting the oil out, no mess at all!

Probablyt a necessary component depending on configuration of oil pan.
Kind of a clunky adaptor. Did not fit my particular auto. Bought it because the valve (14mm) would not fit because of the oil pan configuration.. I now have over $40. invested in two fittings that still will not fit. I will save the for the next auto I buy.

Not Needed
Fumoto's website said this was needed for my CRV. Bought, but didn't install. Not needed, and if used, it would have put the valve too low.

Gets the job done.
Where have Fumoto valve's been all my life. Love these things. Obviously, you'll need this adapter if the valve itself is unable to screw into the oil pan without coming into contact with other parts of the car. Does what it needs to do. Make sure you look up the correct pieces and read them carefully. I didn't read the adapter language which stated I would need the adapter to fit on my wife's car.

Works as advertised
This was recommended for my 2006 Acura TL, when using a F-106N drain valve. You just need to follow the instructions; be careful not to overtighten either of them. It's been in use over 4 months and no problems. In fact, they actually paid for themselves when I realized I'd forgotten to use the crush washer after putting in the first quart. I was able to drain the oil right back into the bottle and then reuse it.
