There are over 600 species of Ficus, most of them tropical & evergreen. Ficus produces a unique "fruit" which is actually an inverted flower. Ficus is one of the most loved bonsai for many reasons. Ficus are one of the best varieties of bonsai trees for indoors. They're very easy to take care of & need little attention. In the Ficus family, the golden gate variety is the best for growing indoors. The attractive gray trunk is thick & sturdy topped by small, dark green Oval foliage. It is an excellent tree for beginners, as most species of Ficus are fast growers, tolerant of most any soil & light conditions, make fine indoor bonsai, & perhaps most importantly, are remarkably forgiving of those just learning bonsai watering techniques. Each live plant is shipped with the phytosanitary certificate as required by the USDA

Sick Plant, Aphid infestation found.
The plant was infested with aphids! The plant came VERY sick, with black spots on the leaves. Upon further inspection, the roots were infested and there was sticky gunk everywhere. After FULL cleaning of the plant, re pot, new soil it would seem that the plant was too damaged to save, although still trying because its alive. New growth continues to wither, and the trunk now show signs of a legion. The death of this poor tree is inevitable. I suggest the that the green house is inspected, as this may be the case with all of the plants from this seller.

The only plant I've kept alive for so long
I'd wanted a bonsai tree for quite a long time, and was surprised to find live ones for sale on Amazon. After some research, I decided this ficus might survive my care, and the price seemed very fair to me-- low enough that I wouldn't be terribly put off if I did end up killing the poor thing. It's been over six months now and this tree really doesn't ask much of me. If I forget to water it for a while (as I often do), it will start to lose its leaves (as you can see in the photo). But once I water it and put the poor thing back in some light, it begins to sprout new leaf buds almost overnight! I don't care to do much yard work or landscaping outside my home apart from the bare minimum, so I wouldn't be comfortable leaving it outside where mites and other things might infect or otherwise damage it. But as long as I remember to give it some sun or even light from a compact fluorescent from time to time, it appears quite happy living indoors. The shipping packaging, for what it's worth, was excellent in regard to the plant's well-being. The box perfectly accommodated the tree and was loosely filled with packing peanuts to gently support the branches and leaves and all. It was obviously a complete mess to unpack, but my tree was in excellent shape on arrival. If you like plants but don't have a green thumb, this is honestly an excellent choice. Just do a bit of research on the specific tree you want, and just keep an eye on it from time to time. In the past I've managed to kill both bamboo and cacti in less time than I've had this lovely little tree, and I'd been told that both of those were virtually indestructible. But the tree has survived and continues to do well in my questionable care. So if you're afraid of killing it, you probably won't (unless you put it in a closet and willfully ignore it for weeks on end lol). I definitely recommend this particular seller and tree and would buy from them again without hesitation, hands down.

The first one was great! But
This is my 2nd bonsai from this vendor. The first one was great! But...the one I just received came dead, or at least near death. It looks terrible! I am so disappointed! I was really looking forward to it. I'm hoping that maybe some tender loving care will bring it back. But I don't think I will be buying another anytime in the near future.

Glad I Tried Again
When Covid sent all of us indoors, I thought it was a great time to pick up my bonsai hobby again. I purchased this same item, but chose the juniper. It came beautifully packaged and looking great; however within three months it was dead because of fertilizer burn. The company had mixed WAYY TOO MUCH in with the bonsai soil and i saw it too late. I still wanted to resume my hobby and decided to give this company another shot and ordered the Ficus. Again, it came beautifully packaged but i inspected the soil for the fertilizer. Although it was still mixed in the soil, it looked like a lot less was used this time and i didn't remove any. That was several months ago and my bonsai is still as beautiful as the day it came.

Dead on arrival
I was very excited to give this bonsai plant to a friend for the holidays. Unfortunately, my bonsai arrived dead. I was terribly embarrassed and disappointed to show my friend the dead bonsai and have to explain how the plant was delivered dead. Needless to say, I would not recommend ordering this bonsai to anyone.

How do you say "exquisite" 100 different ways!?!?!?
Greenery, beautiful green leaves surrounded in a sea of packing peanuts! I knew it would take a while to shovel those things out and briefly considered the use of my shop vac. No! Ava ( my name for her) had traveled so far, nestled in this white cloud, and I wouldn't risk not one leaf. So I began my journey and finally reached her little curved trunk peaking from a maze of tape to ensure, once again, that she would arrive whole. I went to work again, praying that no little miniscule bugs would awaken and fly up my nose (experiences retold from places just like this), and finally, FINALLY, I lifted her free. Oh my, what a lovely sight! I sat her down and just stared at her, so grateful for that sea of white and the rivers of tape. Sheer perfection. I love her, for the calming effect she brings with her through the beauty of all things nature. Please, Lord, help me keep her alive and flourishing. Thank you, Brussels, for protecting her so well until she made it home.

Completely satisfied. I recommend this unique gift for anyone.
I've put together a Easter basket for my daughter every Easter since she was born. I try to stay away from the conventional method as it's not very personal and each year the children just look for candy without thinking about the gift. My daughter is now 33 years old. I've got a pretty good record here. I'll look around her apartment during visits and in our conversations I can go back to PSYOP training and usually come up with something nice, personal, useful, and, of course there's a chocolate bunny, gourmet jelly beans, and a few more goodies with some actually healthy. The basket is never a colorful straw basket commonly found just about everywhere. Last year I used a nice planting pot with a macrame hanging system. this year I have every thing but the type of basket. One of the items will be a nice Bonsi tree. I had to get two, one for my wife. They were delivered today. When I opened the box I was very impressed with the packaging. If it were to be dropped, I'm sure no harm would be done to the trees. I opened it quickly as to warm the trees, but the packaging had also insulated it. I also purchased the tool kit on how to take care of it. I will place her tree in the center of what ever I decide to use. It will make a wonderful gift for her as well.
