And a bit stale. Taste was the biggest disappointment. There's a Chef Tee on line that makes black cakes that are the pinnacle this cake wishes it could reach.

The cake is dry on top and deliciously moist on the bottom. Will not order again.

The cake is very moist, but I threw it out after eating just one slice. It just doesn’t taste good is the only way I can explain it…just that simple.

I am truly sorry to say this, but I am saying it honestly and truthfully. As a person born and bred in one of the beautiful Caribbean islands, I can tell you this cake has no resemblance or taste of any island cake. Unfortunately it tastes like a boxed cake mix made and soaked with some flavor rum. This cake was purchased for my husband's birthday, and my husband, who also shares the same birthplace, took a half of a bite and discarded the rest. For the hefty price, I willingly bought it although I was warned of the small 5" - 6" that it is, but with the expectation of a great tasting cake. We are accustomed to bak in ng our cakes from scratch, butter, sugar, mix and rub as you incorporate eggs, flour, and your varied ingredients, and this I know emphatically was not made from scratch. Truly a disappointing experience. I have seen raves reviews which is what sold me on purchasing this cake to begin with, buth I cannot in good conscience encourage anyone to purchase this cake for the price, the size, and the taste, if they are looking for a good homemade cake made from scratch.

Would be better if it had nouts, like pecans or walnuts added. Very moist. Enjoyed with coffee.

I got this for the first time and was quite satisfied. I had gotten a different rum cake but was way too strong on the rum spices. This has a very very pleasant rum flavor that is NOT overpowering at all. The cake is very moist and the chocolate taste is decent. I really enjoy it with coffee in the morning. I find that putting it in the microwave for about 20 seconds enhances the flavor a bit and makes it tase better. I rally enjoy this and will most likely buy again. Just a bit pricey!

Very good chocolate rum cake. Dark chocolate, plenty of rum taste, and very moist and fresh. I could actually see a bit of rum oozing out of the piece I had tonight. (Well, I had to try it to make sure it was good, right?) It's not a large cake -- about 6 1/2 inches across, or maybe a little more -- but you won't want to serve large pieces. I had ordered two cakes to start with, and I just came back and ordered two more. It will make a great addition to a holiday table! And it comes in an attractive box if you want to give it as a gift.

Well it was delicious, even straight of the freezer. I had it with vanilla ice cream and Myers dark rum. Pricey? Yes, but you aren:t going to make this yourself!
