Outstanding game except for the checkpoint system
For a 2004 game, this game has pretty decent graphics, but is not particularly innovative even for its time. However, it runs smoothly (I played it on Vista x64) and is quite error free. Also, no patches are required. I rarely play multiplayer on any game, so I didn't miss it on this one.As someone else mentioned, it's a Halo knock-off, but with no drivable vehicles and it takes place largely in space. Weapons are typical: something that resembles a cattle prod, a pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle, assault rifle with grenade launcher, a pulse machine gun, rocket launcher, two types of hand grenades, a sonic shock cannon, and some kind of electrical stun weapon. You have a regenerating shield armor and a health level that depletes when you get hit after your armor has been overcome. Health kits and ammo are discovered by breaking crates. There are quite a few different types of enemies, from bugs to thugs. There are robots and turrets and some of the latter can be commandeered. There are some environmental challenges like having to jump from place to place without falling.I don't really care that much about story line or voice acting unless it's really bad or very good. This game was so-so on both.About 20% of the game consists of spaceship dog fighting. I hated that part, mostly because I was no good at it. Other people apparently like it. Maybe it would have been better using console style controllers. I got better toward the end, but there was one mission (Rescue Krugo) that was a real challenge and I had to play the end space segment it over and over for a couple days.Aside from the spaceship dog-fights, the worst part of this game was the checkpoint save system which almost made me lower my rating of this game to three stars. There are no manual or quick saves in this game. If you get killed, it will start over at the last checkpoint. Sometimes checkpoints happen pretty regularly, but other times you have to play a long time before you get to one. This may be the worst game I've seen in terms of the length of time between some checkpoints. Finally, this has to be the longest linear shooter I've ever played. I played this game pretty regularly for a month. There are twelve missions and each is quite long. I think this game is worth about 20-40 hours of game play depending on your skill. I was ready for it to be over, but it was fun right up to the end.I paid $6 for this game with free shipping and it was a bargain. If you like futuristic Halo style FPS games, I highly recommend this. While not state of the art graphics (even for its time), it was still enjoyable and without many of the anomalies that you see in earlier games.

Cyclic Redundancy during install is bad news
I was very excited to have gotten this game delivered to me quickly, although my copy had a cyclic redundancy problem on disk 2 and sometimes it would come up on disk 1 making me unable to install the game. :( I saw the splash screen which made me excited to begin install, but if you have the same problem I did and if you spend hours trying to fix it, you're out of luck and you'll have to get a new copy. I'm sending my copy back, please send me a working one next time. I'm happy to see they have copies of Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter

Blast from the past that works with Windows 10
I used to dig this game quite a lot back on the original Xbox. I had been wanting to play it again and was surprised to see it on PC. The game is on 4 CD-ROMs and installed on my Windows 10 laptop without a hitch. It loads and plays beautifully on a modern x64 OS.NOTE: You will want to adjust the flight controls to allow the ship to yaw left/right by assigning the yaw control to your mouse (double click the command, nudge your mouse in the appropriate direction, done), otherwise you will struggle with yawing, rolling and controlling the speed of your ship all at once with keyboard buttons, while the pitch/weapons aiming only work, by default, with the mouse's Y-axis. Once you make this change, the game is highly enjoyable.Sure, the graphics, audio and dialog are all a little dated, but it's still a fun game and the space dog fighting is a great hook that keeps the action fresh. Recommended, especially for how cheap it is now and that it's fully compatible in the x64 realm.

This game is almost impossible at times
If you buy this game, even though its old. Be warned. It has extremely long cut scenes and really annoying spaceship fights. They are almost impossible to pass and get more and more difficlut. there are loads of ships, they fly erraticly and avoid you and hit you really easily. Your space ship starts to get messed up and you can't even see why and you can die in less than 10 seconds. There are no cheats that work online anywhere either. I got rid of the game before completing it and the rescue Kruger fighter trooper space ships stage. There are about 20 ships and unless you are an expert you will spend 100's and 100's of wasted times trying to defeat these things. Bad game, rubbish.
