I got an average size head, 7 1/2 cap size. I got the large/extra large, got it yesterday and it barely fit me. The top of the head gear is padded and cannot be adjusted. On the back, the two main straps to secure it to your head actually go over a big thick pad that is meant to protect the back of your head. It comes down from the top part of the headgear and it makes it impossible to get your head in there comfortably. I eventually cut that piece off, fits great now though I am a little disappointed. Other than that, the headgear looks great. Padding is thick, and the headgear seems to be crafted well throughout.

Ordered this for my 12 year daughter and she has used it a few times now. I asked her how this works for her and she said "fine" so I'm guessing it does the job which is really the bottom line. This "helmet" is quite bulky though, it takes up a lot of space in her bag. To me build quality seems fine, we should probably give it some time to see how it holds up.
