Sizzle: A Novel (Buchanan / Renard / MacKenna Book 8)

This book is good and I really enjoyed watching Lyra & Sam’s relationship blossom. It was a little slow for me I’m the beginning but only because I prefer the MC’s to meet and start interacting earlier in the book. But once they meet, it really picks up. They are such a good couple. I like their banter and how well they got along. He’s funny and I like the way he jokes with her. He’s such a calm, protective and capable stud. She’s very confident and compassionate and funny at times.The plot is interesting. There are multiple points of view and one of them is of a criminal who’s not very good but thinks he is. He also got real lucky at times when he messes up. It’s a bit comical. It was also interesting trying to figure out who’s trying to do harm to Lyra. Lots of twists in the plot that makes it more interesting. The ending is super good and leaves with you warm good feels.I recommend this book and can see me reading it again.

Good read

I love this series. All of them. I love the interactions. I love the storyline. I just love this series. Even the historical ones. They just make me happy. Suggest reading from the first book, though, to this one. Historical books are good for knowing where names come from, but are not necessary to understand the modern books.

I agree that it's not fair to attach a review to a book based on it's price, not on it's content. When I go looking for new authors I look at how many stars, and if it's three or less I usually don't buy the book, unless a review catches my eye. The book review is about the book, not the price and which way to buy it, Kindle or paper.When I questioned the price on the Kindle books at customer service for some other authors I was told Amazon's deal with the publishers is that a "bestseller" will be listed at $9.99. I've tried to start listing the dates of my favorite authors releases a week to two after release date in my calendar because otherwise I get antsy and end up paying the full price. You just have to wait for it to hit the bestseller list to get it $9.99.It's supply and demand, if folks pay the full price the publisher gets that much more profit. Can't say that I like it, but it's business. I'm going to assume that like all the other hardback releases that hers also will go down. It's no different than waiting for paperback to come out vs. hardcover, except we only need to wait a week or two. They are looking out for profit.As far as buying them cheaper, I use the Kindle for convenience AND pricing. Even though I never thought I'd like the Kindle (I held out buying it till my husband bought it for me for Christmas last year because he was tired of hearing me think about buying it) I just had to replace mine because my 4 year old knocked it into the hotel sink while we were traveling and I had it charging by the sink. It hurt to pay for another one, but I won't be going back to paperback. I absolutely LOVE my Kindle. You can also get older books of a new author you've discovered and you're reading their backlist for less than $4. You can even find books listed by price for $0.00! Some are new authors, some are the classics that people are uploading for free. There are pros and cons, but I wouldn't give up my Kindle for anything. ;)And you can bet it won't be charging by the sink anymore! :)Here's a 5 star review to balance out some of those 1's for price! I think Julie consistently writes well developed characters, a very sweet storyline about relationships and they are an easy and enjoyable read that I've usually finished in two days because the characters and storylines are interesting. And there is usually a couple laugh out loud moments thrown in!When the price hits $9.99 I will definetely be buying this one also. If you haven't read any of her historical novels they are even better than her contemporary, I love them!Thanks!Sam

I never say the ending coming. The characters were very well written. I liked each of them. The good ones and bad.

Again, just like the last 12 books, I loved this series. I wish it would keep going. I so loved all the characters in the book. I am going to miss them when I read the last few books. Thank you!

A great romance and mystery! Silly and almost believable! A really good way to spend a few hours!Looking forward to reading the next in the series! I love that all of these books have HEA's!

Rating: 3.5 StarsAlthough this is the eighth book in Garwood's romantic suspense series, it can easily be read as a standalone. I always enjoy a JG novel however and this one was no exception, even though it's definitely not without its faults. The story started out interesting enough and had no trouble holding my attention throughout. I also thought the writing flowed well, but I didn't sense this author's trademark humor and charm as much as usual.And while I liked both Lyra and Sam, they seemed a little too perfect and just never felt like real people to me. Unfortunately their romance didn't move me in any way either. The story was also light on suspense and the mystery was predictable.Honestly, the best and most well fleshed character of the entire tale in my opinion was actually the bumbling assassin who I strangely ended up liking. Overall I found the book entertaining enough and it was surely never boring, but compared to some of Ms. Garwood's other work this one simply fell a little short. Nonetheless I'm still a big fan and even though I didn't love it, I'm still very glad that I finally got around to reading it 😊

Julie Garwood brings her character alive. I enjoy reading her books and hate to put them down. Just disappointed that I have to wait so long for her next books to be published.
