Gerber Gear Multi-Plier 600 Blunt Nose Multitool with 14 Tools - Includes Knife, Pliers, Nylon Sheath & More - Black Tool

My first pair of regular size multi-tool and I love it. You should add on the screw driver bits kit and it becomes a great multi-tool. Upon first opening there is a black coating on the multi-tool so that needs to be cleaned off otherwise it is going to get all over your hands. Flicked open out of the box without a problem but I did apply some great to the railing and knife did not come sharp and had really bad burrs. While using the screw drivers while the pliers locked in and applying force, the pliers do stick out a bit and dig into your hand so gloves should be advised. I have applied a lot of force when using it closed as a screw driver and while the two pieces will flex a good amount. I never felt like it was going to give way and snap. Also note it did not bent or go out of shape, still lined up good. Haven't tried the wire cutters with any heavy gauge wire so can't comment on their durability. Good file on any soft material and the blunt nose performs as great as I thought it would.

I got this on the advice of a co-worker who has one. I love it. The case is good-quality. I got the black color, which of course rubbed off on my hands. Some baby wipes and alcohol pads quickly solved that issue.I got the blunt-nosed version, which I figured would help me more when holding bolts and nuts, etc. In retrospect, I might have gotten the regular needle-nosed. Not certain...The 2 versions of blades is a real winner, as is the can opener. I had to open a can of dog food with it, and it worked great. There aren't a bunch of useless tools on it that I don't need. My only complaint is that it is heavy. But, so are other multi-tools that size. For the money, it is a good quality tool at a good price.

Hello. I love this tool. I bought this to replace my needle nose 600. The blunt nose is much better for working on nuts and bolts. I absolutely prefer the black over the stainless, but some of the black rubbed off on my hands. I contacted Gerber and they told me this is normal and how to keep that from happening. Below is their fix, and I highly recommend this tool.Thank you for contacting Gerber Legendary Blades and your concern regarding the Black Oxide. Black Oxide is used for corrosion protection and Black Die is used to accompany the Oxide to help it retain its color. Some die may rub off and residue excess is normal. Using a soft clean rag wipe the handle and tool pack components to remove any excessive residue. One may also wash the tool in a mild, soapy solution taking care to wipe the unit completely dry afterwards. This should remove excessive residue while still protecting the tool from corrosion. Be sure to apply a light coat of Gun or Machine Oil after thoroughly drying to help prevent any rust or corrosion.

Let me start off by saying that I love this tool. I work with communication electronics, and this tool provides just about everything I need. While not the as good as a dedicated pair of pliers, I have yet to come across any multi-tool that's great at everything. The build quality on the tool is good, but the holder/case it comes with is kind of chintzy (would definitely recommend getting a third-party case), which is part of the reason I took away one star.However, if you work with electronics, and need a good multi-tool for those "just in case" times when you forget to bring your tool bag, then I'd suggest you look at this one.P.S. - I got the blunt nose because I like using them to twist wire together; however, after using these, I'm finding more situations where I wish I had the needle-nose version (like for getting into tight spaces). Additionally, the blunt nose pliers aren't as wide as I like, making wire twisting a little less convenient than I was hoping for; but that's just my opinion... I could be wrong.

I good and useful tool. Just needs to be broken more through use. The open and plied actions are little stuff.

I’ve been using this tool four years now. I find myself using it for things I’d otherwise use a specific tool for. I’ve used it to cut/strip wire, open boxes, paint cans, as a vise, file/saw wood, handling hot metals, handling/carrying propane tanks via the pliers, etc etc. The main blade is sharper and sturdier than I expected it to be. The teeth of the plier are all intact—with a good bite to them. When I first bought it I didn’t expect it to hold up to rigors I’d put it through. It’s exceeded my expectations. Easily it’s the most used tool that I own, at work or and at home.
