The Extreme Ultralight Backpacking and Travel towel by Discovery Trekking is a revolutionary product that no outdoor or travel enthusiast should be without. Top Gear reviewers agree. With 5 Star ratings, this “Editor’s Choice” is making the list of essential gear for backpacking, travel, swimming and everything in between. Unlike conventional microfiber and cotton towels that absorb moisture, our innovative fabric is designed to pull water from your skin and then spread the moisture across the surface area of the fabric so it evaporates quickly. Over time, odor causing bacteria can build up on conventional towels resulting in a “funky” smell. Treated with a safe, odor-resistant technology made with silver that inhibits the growth of bacteria, our towels stay fresh longer. Discovery Trekking towels are NOT made of microfiber and will not get stiff and scratchy or leave you covered in fuzz. They offer high sun protection and sand won’t stick to them at the beach! This Towel was developed for Ultralight backpacking and won’t weigh down your pack, with the smallest size weighting just 1.5oz! It is whisper light and compact for travel and backpacking, allowing you the luxury of a multiuse towel on your trip. Even when you can’t wash them regularly these durable towels will remain soft and luxurious against your skin. Don’t let the softness fool you, you’ll wear out long before this towel does! This is Not a typical towel, for best results don’t rub, just pat skin dry.

Lives up to the hype and then some.
I used these on a 5 day camping trip, in situations where the ambient humidity was often 90% or more. Unlike my small microfiber towel I was using as a washcloth that I could never get dry, these things were dry EVERY MORNING. Even when it rained the night before and they had been soaked by rain and only had a few hours of dry weather to dry out, they were dry enough to use comfortably at 6AM.When you get them, the fabric feels kind of weird, like it won't be absorbent enough. But in practice it works just like a regular towel would. They didn't get smelly after five days either. These weigh so little you can even carry a nice big, bath towel sized one with you without any meaningful weight penalty. I also keep a smaller one in my day pack just for wiping off sweat etc. because the weight penalty is so trivial there is really no reason not to have a towel along.Sometimes you buy stuff on Amazon based on the glowing reviews and it turns out that the hype was BS. This isn't one of those things. If you are looking for a camping/hiking towel, just stop looking and buy these. You won't regret it.

Light, quick-drying, Color bleeds.
This towel is lightweight, and that's why I chose it to take with me while hiking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. When wet, it dries quickly, and it also did a sufficient job of drying my body, absorbing most of the water from my skin but leaving the skin slightly damp. It's not a substitute for a real towel, but when every ounce in the backpack counts, one has to make compromises. Be careful washing it. It bleeds dye. While on the Camino, I washed it every several days by hand by itself, and it always turned the wash water blue.

This is one of the most useful products I've ever purchased. It is fast drying and odor resistant, just it claims. I use it daily for showering. By patting my hair dry with the superabsorbent material, I cut my haircare time in at least half.I was really nervous about taking the company's word that the towel was UV protective though. I'm very pale and burn easily. When I went to my friend's graduation earlier this month though, I had to cross my fingers and hope for the best while baking in the heavy afternoon sun for four hours. I brought this towel with me and wore it as a shawl. It is so lightweight and airy that it wasn't awkward to wear. I wrapped it over my shoulders and head for the duration of the event, and no part of me that was covered by the towel got burned or tanned. My shins got burned where my dress didn't fully cover my legs; the difference between the two areas was startling. This towel is perfect. Buy a few.

Excellent travel/emergency towel!
What a superb travel/emergency towel. I bought the 28"x34" towel and have traveled around the world with it--twice! It is truly a wonderful towel. It is small, lightweight, dries extremely fast, and is incredibly convenient. I use it mostly as a backup. If I can I try to use a regular towel, but when hiking through the Amazon that sometimes isn't an option, and it's SOOOOO nice to have this towel on hand.

Southeast Asia Backpacking
I'm backpacking and most hostels/guesthouses do not provide towels or towels for free. I researched ahead of time and found that this towel was the one I'd purchase. I've used its for 10 days straight (allowing it to dry after) and it only began to smell towards the end of the 10 days. I'm pretty impressed and I really like that it dries quickly.Pros:-Dries-Can fold up to the size of a pair of socks-Really does resist odors-Stays soft-Superlight-Soaks up a surprisingly large amount of water-I got the large size and I'm glad I did (its the size of a normal towel and you can wear it around your lower body to the showers etc.)Cons:-WAY TO MUCH DYE. I had to soak this in a sink and drain a bunch of times before I washed it. It really has a bunch of leftover dye-I wish it had loopholes or something if you want to hang it but you can't have everything in this world haha

Exactly as described, top product
Size was as advertised, very light and soft, absorbant and easy to use: dries me, and it dries quickly. If you are used to heavy terry-cloth or plush towels, go to a hotel for those energy wasters. If you want to travel with less bulk, hike while carrying a minimal pack and enjoy yourself get these towels. They seem to be lighter, and maybe slighter cheaper than the Sea to Summit (all over-priced stuff) line.

as advertised
this is fast drying. i bought it for a camping/hiking trip. however, there wasn't any running water to be had, so i didn't use this much as a towel. for few occasions where it was used as a towel, it worked well. although, this was really helpful to use over the top of my sleeping bag overnight. there was always condensation on the inside of the sleeping bag roof by the morning-time, and it would drip on top of my sleeping bag. i really liked being able to put this over, to not get my sleeping bag wet. if you decide to use the towel for this purpose - you would need a larger-sized one, and also some safety pins to pin it into place, so it doesn't slip off overnight. it is a little slippery.

nicely lightweight
Had hoped for a little more absorbency. Doesn't really smoothly rub your skin dry. As someone else said, you could just cup up a thin sheet and get the same product. Still, it's lightweight for my backpack, and it does dry itself very quickly.
