My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie and the Rockin' Ponypalooza Party!

Truly age appropriate for the 8-12 year old group of readers
If you're child is a My Little Pony fan and is in the 8-12 year old range, buy this series of books! I was concerned at first that they might be too simple and too childish for my daughter, but she absolutely loved it! And the plot, vocabulary, and concepts are definitely NOT for children of younger ages. I was very pleasantly surprised at the sophistication of these stories and yet how well they blend in to the My Little Pony universe. G.M. Berrow has done a great job of making it easy enough to enjoy yet challenging enough to hold a child's attention. Great books!

Older Fan Review for the Bronies and Pegasisters
Pinkie Pie and the Rocking PonyPalooza Party Book by GM BerrowReview by MexterOThis review is for the older fans of the epic MLP:FIM series. First a little background, I'm a 21 year old guy who is a electrical engineering major who loves slice of life cartoons and anime. I love this show more than you imagine so don't hesistate to comment or ask questions about my review. I am up to date with the pony comics and the show as well so have at me fellow fans. Any questions are welcomed. : DAs I did for my previous review on GM Berrows other pony book: Twilight Sparkle and The Crystal Heart Spell. I will put my personal comments in parenthesis. (personal comments)The Quick Summary (For those that wanna get straight to the point):Pinkimena Diane Pie may appear on the surface to be just a frivolous pony mean't for slapstick and pun comedy, but we all know that she is more than just that, a WHOLE Lot more. Just like the rest of mane 6, Pinkie isn't a one dimensional character. She is a multifaceted character. We see in the show and in comics, that although she is by her personality and nature rather silly, she is shown to be rather intellegent (at times to the point that it perplexes Twilight Sparkle, lol), compassionate, dedicated, and with her optimistic view in life she is rather fun to be around. In this story, Berrow's explores Pinkie's relationship with her family which adds even more depth to her. I bet most of us have wondered why Pinkie came from a such unsual background, the daughter of Rock Farmer. In this story, Pinkie Pie acknowledges that even though she may be the "Pink Sheep in the Family" (I loved this : D), and that her parents may not always be accepting of her ways (including her friends lol) she shouldn't let anyone change her for who she is. Also Apparently, Pinkie Pie is friends with celebrities not just Katy Perry, but the band Cold Hay (Cold Play) and Nine Inch Tails (Nine Inch Nails), the rapper Neigh-Z (Jay-Z). I think I know the pony to call if a stallion like me wants a hook up. XDDon't read past this point if you don't want to be spoiled.----------------------------------------------------------------Brief Synopsis [Spoilers Inbound] -The story starts off at the beginning with Pinkie Pie waking up to a beautiful spring day, just after the week the ponies in Ponyville finished their Winter Wrap Up. Pinkie looks up at her PPL (Pinkie Party Planner), her present from Twilight Sparkle (Oh Twilight : D), to see what current fun activities are happening in Ponyville and if there are any parties. To her dismay, there aren't any parties schedule for that day. Pinkie decides anyway to throw a party since she would hate for such a beautiful day to be wasted. She and Gummy then start to brainstorming for potential ideas for the party. Pinkie at first decides that it should be Superpony party (everypony wears capes XD), then her next idea is a Capture the Flag Tournamnent (Can't tell if Pinkie is a Halo Fan or she knows my favorite game from grade school, I'll say it's both XD). Then at the last moment Gummy walks over to pair of sneakers and Pinkie gets her the inspiration she will call her party the Spring Sproing Spring Party. She and Gummy then leave to Ponyville's main square to tell everypony about the party.Pinkie get's help from all her pony pals, the rest of the mane 6, the CMC, and some other characters like Cheerilee to help out and she even ask's Doodle (who we all know would love to join Pinkie's parties *sarcasm* haha he doesn't) to help make the party a success. So after lot of flier giving, preparation, and a bouncy barn later the party went underway. During the party an odd family arrives, Twilight notices them and tells Pinkie. Pinkie notices them right away as her family! She greets them and asks them why they came all the way out to Ponyville (an urban town apparently, Oh GM Berrow. I like that). We learn Pinkie's Family names(Fanboy scream: YESS!!) her mother is Cloudy Quartz, her dad is Igneous Rock and her two sisters are Marble and Limestone. Pinkie's mom tell her that they came not to attend her nonsense party or to see her (Man, what a harsh family. Don't you dare talk to Pinkie that way.) instead they need to talk to Princess Twilight Sparkle. Twilight overhears this and being a little hesistant in using her title as Princess decides to come out of the crowd to defend her friend. Twilight says in her most regal tone (I'm a Twilight Sparkle Fanboy) "It's not nonsense!" (Yeah, Twilight you show them.)Pinkie's parents sadly tell Twilight that they will be losing the rock farm due to business being low. They tell Twilight that ever since the Crystal Kingdom was brought back many ponies were buying more Rubies, Sapphires and other Gems since they sparkled more (I mean who wouldn't). Pinkie downtrottened that her parents completely ignored her and the fact that they will lose the rock farm tell everypony to go home. "Nopony ever expected to hear Pinkie Pie say such a thing." (Neither did I Pinkie, neither did I *liquid pride*).Pinkie Pie feeling sad that she will never get approval from her parents as to the way she is decides to make a Pinkie Promise (***Gasp***) to be from now on a serious pony. She starts by redecorating her room and getting glasses (Pinkie wearing glasses is best Pinkie. Serious yet silly. XD the only pony that could pull that off). Meanwhile, Twilight, Fluttershy, AppleJack, Rainbowdash, and Rarity discuss how they could possibly create a Rock concert. Being the nerd she is, Twilight gathers all the book on rocks and concerts (Once a nerd, always a nerd.). Rainbow Dash and AppleJack stop Twilight from reading anymore boring rock definitions and tell her that the only way this party can be a success is to get the Pinkie Pie to snap out of it.In this part of the story there is a whole sleu of neat conversations that the mane 6 have with each other with some references to the show in order to get Pinkie Pie back on track. (Awesome!!, GM Berrow). In the end, The mane 6 manage to get Pinkie to throw the Rocking PonyPalooza Party to show people just how awesome rocks could be (I was a rock collector when I was kid, oh those days. XD Rocks rock!!) Best line at the end was Pinkie Pie announcing ColdHay! Oh and of course Octavia mention Nine Inch Tails and DJ Pon 3 warming up the crowd. The Moral:We know Pinkie can be a bit overbearing with her constant need to show ponies a good time by throwing parties, but there needs to be time for all that and it isn't everytime. Sometimes you need to be serious. Hopefully, Pinkie learns this, eventually. Pinkie has some insecurities about possibly losing friends as seen from the show and possibly even some family issues since she can be a bit eccentric. In regards to that, There are times in a pony's (person's XD) life that we may come across people or even family who may not accept us for who we are, but that doesn't mean we mean we should change. We should listen to their advice, but ultimately it is you who is in charge of your life. You should decide on the pony (person) you want to become. Further, when you make your decision you should be proud of who your are, and if some still people don't understand just remember all of us have our unique path to our cutie mark (our calling).Overall, the story referenced the show very well, the personalities of all the characters were rock solid, the book played out just like a show episode. The pony force is strong with G.M. Berrows the books are indeed something to consider reading if you want more pony content. (5 Brohoofs out of 5).Still reading. XDOne really really really minor error though, that maybe could not be her fault. Applebloom has a red mane, not a pink mane. Brony levels over 9000!!!

Another great book by a rising pony author, GM Berrow
GM Berrow, you have impressed me once more with this fantastic read! This book was honestly better than the first one with Twilight Sparkle, there were a few issues with that one, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I paid attention to the writing in the first book, and every time Pinkie Pie would appear I would laugh myself silly. I actually met GM Berrow once at a convention, she said that Pinkie Pie was her favorite pony, something we hold in common. I knew that a book based on Pinkie would be amazing seeing how well she handled her, and I was right! The writing and pacing feels much like an actual episode of Friendship is Magic, especially the dialog. I won't spoil anything, but it mainly involves Pinkie trying to act her complete opposite in order to impress her stern parents who need hers and Twilights help to save their rock farm. I love it when characters are taken out of their familiar environments to challenge themselves, and GM handled it perfectly here.Overall, a great book that feels like an episode and gives us more of our favorite pink pony.

Very Good
This was a very entertaining and very "episode-like" story. Anyone who enjoys the My Little Pony series will enjoy this book. I found it much improved over her previous book, "The Crystal Heart Spell."(Oh, I enjoyed how one of Pinkie's sisters "blinks." This was a happy callback to the fan names for these characters, "Pinky, Inky, Blinky and Clyde" [from PacMan]. The author demonstrates her awareness of fandom without interrupting her story.)However, because I'm a fan, I'm driven to point out a few glitches in the story.First, Pinkie Pie's parents and her two sisters visit Ponyville. However, the story references a third, unnamed older sister for Pinkie. I'm sorry, but no. While it's not impossible to suddenly drop an older sibling into the continuity ("My brother?!"), I'm not seeing any way to add an older sibling to Pinkie Pie without clashing with "Cutie Mark Chronicles." What, Big Sis wasn't invited to the party?Second, it's canon that the Pie Family Rock Farm produces, among other things, geodes ("Magic Duel"). So the Pies are in the gemstone business themselves and would likely see increased, rather than decreased, sales in this story. (Of course, the economics of jewels in Equestria are problematic. Spike and Rarity can wander around a vacant lot and in a few hours come back with a wagon-load of jewels. I'm thinking that shiny rocks just aren't all that valuable in Equestria.)Third, it's a minor point, but it jumped out at me: the author namechecks various musical characters (Octavia, DJ-Pon3, various ponified bands) but left out the Pony of Pop herself, Sapphire Shores! Inconceivable!Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story. But thinking about these kinds of issues is what make fan fiction fun!

A Brilliant Book
This book is a great buy both for younger children and for the brony audience. If you're a parent looking for a My Little Pony product for your child this book is definitely a good choice. It's a short story with type large enough for children moving onto story books to be able to enjoy. It has a lot more of the feel of the My Little Pony cartoon than the IDW comics do, so it's definitely a nice tale if you're looking for the same sort of thing. For fans, this story expands upon Pinkie Pie's much speculated family, as well as making a fair few shout-outs to fan favourites like Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Lyra and Bon Bon. The story is a good look at estranged families, dealing with how Pinkie's family don't take her seriously and shun her help in favourite of help from someone they view as more official. It's a nice little lesson in family bonds and won't take you too long to read through.

Sehr Unterhaltsam

Pinkie in Höchsform
Witz und Spannung sind vorhanden, nur wird wie üblich das Ende zu schnell gelöst. Für Bronys aber auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.
