What they were then, they can never be again.....
Let's get the obvious out of the way first - the first two TBS albums are classics. Tell All Your Friends and Where You Want To Be were the soundtrack to my teenage years, and I still love them now. But I've got older, as have TBS, and it would be wrong to expect them not to have changed in that time. For me, New Again and Louder Now were both albums full of 'okay', with the occasional moment of brilliance. When they first came out I wasn't that excited by either of them, but they've grown on me with time.As for their latest offering - it has a lot more moments of brilliance, and a lot fewer moments of 'just okay'. My favourite song is undoubtedly 'This Is All Now', and it probably sums up the album. If you give it a couple of listens and the guitar hook gets stuck in your head, then you'll come to love this album. If you listen to it and crave the pure pop-punk of Cute Without The E, then grown-up TBS probably aren't your cup of tea. A wise man told me that the strongest part of this album is the unadulterated joy in each song, brought about by a return to the original TBS line-up, and their excitement about making music together again. I called him a wise man for a reason.... :-)

Really Great Album
I love Taking Back Sunday, so was delighted to pick up this album. If you like this style of music, it will become a regular on your playlist. I have played it to death over the last couple of days and think that will last for a while longer yet!

Suprising
The first two albums were and still is the best albums they have done! I still listen to them today :)but this one is suprisingly good compared to the last two they bought out! not that i dont like "Louder Now" or "New Again"It just doesnt compare to the first two as they are probably my favourite albums of all time. But this album is refreshing and adam has one hell of an amazing voice.... just wow... Buy it

Shorter Now
If you liked Louder Now and New Again you will like this.If you are an older school fan looking for a return to Tell All Your Friends and Where You Want To Be your wish won't be granted.Having said that WYWTB was my favorite album but i'm glad they have not repeated it. I bet they couldn't, that's usually why albums like that are special.Instead TBS have since progressed and condensed their trademark style into shorter more immediate format. To distinguish this album from the last two I'd probably say there's more to it than initially meets the ear, it's lively, catchy and the singer is clearly at the top of his vocal game. In fact that last point is probably the most noticable...the vocals are really exposed in the mix and the songs are all the better for it.

Taking Back Sunday
Taking Back Sunday's newest self-titled album reflects the talents of the reformed line-up.That being said, it is so far from every single on of their previous albums, including the most recent "New Again", that you'd struggle to recognise that it was TBS. The lyrics are blunt and to the point, without any obscure metaphors or creative phrasing. The riffs are fairly predictable and the band's once-prominent emotional lyrics, combined with Adam's passionate singing seem mostly absent. In short, the album is a solid buy, but a long shot from the old and beautiful ways of Taking Back Sunday, showcased in "Cute Without The 'E'", "My Blue Heaven", "Swing", "Great Romances Of The 20th Century", "The Union", "Set Phasers To Stun", "Liar", "Twenty-Twenty Surgery", "New Again" and "Summer, Man" that so many of us miss so much.

A band maturing
This isn't tell all your friends, why would it be? They WERE 18 then, they are all 30 now. This is a more mature band with more mature tones. The songs are great, but I think they should have gone with You got me as the first song, followed by faith.Listening to this album reminds me of Foo Fighters, going through a similar thing, maturity of the band. Worth a purchase any day, Taking Back Sunday STILL are my all time fav live act. But I do think that the Louder now pt2 live show with Fred was easily the best EVER!
