The End Of The World ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED SET

All her singles from the 50s/early 60s
This is a nice cheap 60 song set that goes from 1957 to 1962. L8ts of big hits and really well made songs sung by one of the best female country singers out there.

SKEETER DAVIS ~ A COUNTRY GIRL FROM KENTUCKY
It's a shame that one of the classic country music performers is no longer with us. But, the music of Skeeter Davis will live on forever. Her hit "The End of the World," will always be associated with her for that was her first hit as a solo artist (reaching #2 on the Billboard Country and Pop Charts in 1963). Skeeter Davis and her friend Betty Jack Davis (no relation) teamed up as a duet team in 1953, and was billed as "The Davis Sisters." The girls had a #1 hit in August of 1953 with "I Forgotten More Than You'll Ever Know." A few weeks before the song reach the top of the Billboard Chart, both girls were in a head-on car collision on August 2, 1953. Skeeter suffered from a concussion, and Betty Jack was dead. If it hadn't been for the well known Chet Atkins, there never would have been a solo artist named Skeeter Davis ~ after the death of her dear friend, Skeeter wanted to retire from being a country singer. But, she went on and had a few Top #5 tunes, and several Top #10. Fans of Skeeter Davis, owe Chet Atkins a big THANK YOU! Rest in Peace Skeeter, & We Love & Miss You!!

Poor audio quality. Do Not Buy.
Do not buy. Product listing states that these are "ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED SET." Neither the packaging nor the CDs make that same claim. More importantly, the sound is very poor. How poor? These recordings sound as though they were recorded directly from the original vinyl, with no improvements made. If aThe End Of The World [ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED] 2CD SET lower rating than one star were permitted, I would have given it no stars.

One great hit and a lot of other lesser tracks.
One of my favorite all-time records is her recording of "The End Of The World", which is included here in this vast collection, but the rest of these tracks seem quite dated and not nearly as special and wonderful as that great hit. There are some other pretty good tracks here, of course.

All her music from 1957 to 1962
The first CD contains all the A and B sides of Skeeter's solo singles from 1957 to 1962, but not the earlier duets that she recorded as the harmony singer in the Davis Sisters. The second CD contains all the tracks from Skeeter's first solo album (I'll sing for you and harmonize too), all the tracks from her album of duets with Porter Wagoner and the six answer songs that Skeeter recorded for an album that also featured original recordings by other artists, but those are omitted. (A release on Sepia records features the answer song album in its entirety, coupled with the Porter duets album.)All very well, but five of the A sides and one of the B sides (The Devil's Doll) on CD 1 also appear as album tracks on CD 2, the A-sides being I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know (a solo re-recording by Skeeter), Set Him Free, Am I That Easy to Forget , (I Can't Help You) I'm Falling Too and My Last Date (With You). If you play the two CDs back-to-back, you may find it irritating, but others will be happy that Jasmine did it this way.An American reviewer is disappointed that there is nothing here that was recorded after 1962, but Jasmine stick to releasing what is in the public domain under European copyright law, and music recorded in 1963 won't enter the public domain until 2033.This is every bit as good as I expected. I have most of the tracks elsewhere, but maybe I can dispense with one or two CDs.
