Rick Steves Mediterranean Cruise Ports (Rick Steves Travel Guide)

Update: We sent our first copy back due to the missing pages. They sent us a replacement copy with same missing pages. I also see another reviewer is also missing the same pages. I think there is a quality issue that is not yet resolved.Check your book for missing pages. Ours looked totally normal, but pages 191-238 were missing. Not torn out, just never bound in the book. Otherwise, the book is full of good, useful information.

The detail in this book is just amazing. Some of the best information tells you how to navigate around, whether it's by foot, by taxi, by public transportation, etc. Very valuable! There are also guided walking tours for many of the ports written up in the book that would be quite useful. The book is intended to be separated into separate "booklets" so you only have to take the pages for that port with you rather than the whole, large, heavy book. I was almost giddy as I tore my first couple of ports away from the book. That signaled that I was ready to travel to somewhere fun! I highly recommend this book if you are a cruiser.

Love this book, so many great insights into many different spots in Europe. What to do, and more importantly what not to waste your money on.

Covered most of the ports we visited on a recent Seabourn cruise. It was good to have the practical port descriptions and suggestions since cruise lines focus mainly on selling their expensive excursions. With the RS book in hand, we were able to research before arriving in port and spent a couple days just taking our own tour around town. Also helped us avoid large bus transport during Covid-19 concerns. We always rely on these great guides.

I am a Rick Steeves fan, and have read many of his travel books. While I enjoyed all the information in this book, I was very disappointed to find that Istanbul, Ephesus, and The Port of Kusadasi are NOT included in this book. They were specifically listed in the book's description here on Amazon, but that information is not correct.

Great resource at fair price

This is an incomplete guide. There are no listings for Turkey, Israel, Egypt, or many of the Greek islands. Heavy on Barcelona, Italy, and the main parts of Greece. I did not find it much use for places I wanted to go.

Most guides are strictly destination oriented. By that I mean that they only tell you what attractions there are to see. Steves book also gives information about the actual port and its access to the sights. It it a well rounded resource.

This book is amazing! It has all the information you could possibly need! Even tells you where you can find pharmacies and English speaking dr’s at every port
