I'm giving this product 3 stars because I ordered it thinking it was a normal door knob and deadbolt, but the deadbolt has a keyed entry on both sides. WTF. Who uses that? I didn't know such a thing existed, so I was annoyed to have to send it back to get one with a thumb lever for the interior. Just one more photo to see what you're buying would have prevented my mistake and loss of time.

I only needed the double key deadbolt, but I had to buy the package deal. For some, unknown reason, double key deadbolts sold separately are are much higher quality, therefore way more expensive.They should offer the deadbolt by itself.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money for doorknobs for a rental property. Great price. I've always had a good experience with the quality of Kwikset.

I spent two full hours trying to install a deadbolt on a door 1 3/4" thick. But failed. Support was readily available for Kwikset, however, and we soon determined that the shaft on the outside lock were made too short to mate with the shaft of the inside lock. The outside shaft is supposed to extend thru the latch D hole, but instead only reaches about 1/16" inch into it. So if the other shaft does slip inside the first one, barely, you can't get the mounting screws into place without losing this contact. The solution is that they are shipping me four new outside lock sets. But they no longer have antique brass. So I'm getting bright brass locks that will be the centers of my antique brass housing. That's the whole flat part that surrounds the keyhole. I have the choice of using the new ones, in the wrong color, or removing their shafts and swapping the new shafts for the shafts on my existing locks. The advantage of the ones they are sending me is that they will be SmartKey locks. I could rekey those to fit the non-SmartKey keys that came with the sets. So the bottom line is that it appears that Amazon got at least one set of four locks that were made with non-standard shafts on the deadbolts. You will have to decide if you want to buy sets that might require a 7-10 business day wait for replacement parts. But if you do you might end up with SmartKey outside locks, but in bright brass.

I recently replaced a basement door and wanted to go from a locking door handle to a locking door handle and a dead bolt. Not wanting to have two different keys and not wanting to hire a locksmith to change them, I went looking for a matched pair and found this. Here is what I found: 1. Both locks are keyed the same which is what I was looking for. 2. In many areas, a double cylinder lock is not legal for living space. However, since this is not considered a living space, this lock worked just fine. You should check your local code if you are buying this for a home entry. 3. The lock set was easy to install and the directions were straight forward. 4. The lock set works smoothly and looks nice.If you are looking for a light duty door lock set ( I would not use this in an industrial setting) that looks good, is easy to install, and is keyed the same, then I would highly recommend this lock set. The only caveat is that you might need the single cylinder lock set if this is for a front door to meet local code.

I would have given this product a 5 star but the keys supplied did not go fully into the mechanism. I had to visit a lock smith to lubricate and ease the mechanisms. The locksmith was a friend so it cost me nothing. I hate to think what it would cost someone who doesn’t have a”friendly” locksmith. Probably cost them more than the cost of the whole locking system. Once fitted it is a sturdy system and has a very nice finish.
