OspreyQuasar Men's Laptop Backpack, Black

Good for the price for EDC/work bag
This was the second Osprey pack I bought in January '20 for the purpose of carting my lunch and laptop to work daily. I rate it a 4 - not quite perfect but pretty good for bags under $100.I had a wonderful Chinese-made bag from my old pharmaceutical company that served me well for over ten years but even with multiple strap repairs, it finally gave in and tore from the backside. The main pocket was deep enough to fit a koozie lunch pack plus a Dell Latitude laptop for work. Internally it had a laptop section and two internal pockets at the bottom of the bag. It had a top pouch and a front facing pouch that had multiple mini pockets inside, a zippered side pocket and a side pouch. Why am I describing my old bag? Well some of the things I don't care for on the Osprey's, my old bag had, so I'm somewhat judgmental on the Osprey's performance.Osprey has great shoulder straps, smooth rolling zippers, bright (but not fluorescent) green visibility material (with the Sentinel Grey color). The material is great and the quality from what I can tell is there. I own a Farpoint 40 and it survived many small trips within the US, and trips to Australia, Philippines, and Japan. The Quasar so far made it a month and hasn't disappointed me, but I am planning on the quality holding up for years based on the Farpoint. I had previously purchased an Osprey Centauri that lasted one day with me. It is one large pouch, and one sunglasses pouch. It's a strappable container at best. At least the Quasar has the third pouch with internal pockets and has the jacket drawstrings, which honestly wouldn't get used unless you are out hiking. Day to day from house to car to cubicle and back, it's not really functional. It does look cooler than the Centauri which lacks the drawstrings. Here's what I'm not jiving with at the moment, but can probably get over in time:Side pouches for water bottles--they fit the big ones, but I don't really find myself carrying TWO big bottles. I would have preferred to have one or both of these capable of enclosing for another small pocket. Currently only one side is used and I'm shoving an umbrella in there because my water bottle ISN'T the large one, and flops around, even though the design still keeps it in. The laptop section is great, tho one reviewer commented the laptop section needed retention. Mine is still new and does not need it, but perhaps with wear, this would be a concern. There is a zippered section for a tablet, so if you don't have a tablet, well, I've yet to find a good use for it. Don't quite understand the type of user who needs both a laptop and tablet, but maybe I'm just an old man and not with the times. Anyhow I don't use the tablet zippered section. The main pouch is big and just clears my Koozie lunch bag. Meal prep is a thing, people, and some of mine are liquidy which means you need it to sit flat, and not at any angle weird like a sandwich could. This was a key component for me in buying a EDC bag, and why I didn't buy the North Face Borealis (tapers smaller at the bottom), and why returned the Swissgear 1900 (main pocket not large enough). The sunglasses pouch is kinda dumb IMO. I mean maybe its because I'm forced to wear regular glasses and endure the blinding sun, but honestly for me most sunglasses come with a case--I don't have the need for a single pocket to only hold uncased sunglasses that are unprotected by the material of the Osprey pouch. That's how things break when bags get crushed. I do need a mini dump pouch for chapstick, bandaids, meds, work ID badges, headphones, etc, and this one does the trick. Well assuming you can find it. It's well buried until the logo flap and I often find myself opening the second pouch rather than the smallest since its like a dang ninja pocket. The second pouch has pros and cons..the pro is awesome - its the full depth of the bag! I thought it'd be a short one, but it does all the way down to the base of the drawstrings and up to top of the zipper above the logo. The con is that the little internal pouches (that my old bag had) are fairly small (three horizontally ~4" wide) and they are located at the top of the pouch, which means adding too much weight leads to toppling over. If you have a relatively small power supply for your laptop, it should fit--mine is 2.5" wide with a bunch of wire. One downside of this high placement is if the main compartment zipper is open, it will flop over with weight. Also if you have a vertical mouse, it won't fit in the internal pockets. Maybe all of you are touchpad users but this seems like a basic need to house a power supply and any sized mouse--my old bag did. When you get carpal tunnel, you will understand why this is con for me. Consequently, my powersupply now rides at the bottom of the second pouch, whereas my vertical mouse gets thrown in the main compartment on top of the lunch bag. The little pouches are fine for pens and sharpies, but much anything else is a no go. There is a key holder but its oddly placed on the edge. It would make more sense to me in the smallest pouch but if you have your unprotected sunglasses floating in there, then perhaps not.The last thing that is kind of lame are the compression clips and the waist band. I've loaded it up once, and it looks fine bulged out like the photo (much better looking than the Centauri, which looks like a hippo) but if you don't have it completely full, the compression straps hang loosely about. If you snap them in, it blocks you from opening the main compartment. I mean its not the Great Wall of China, but quick access isn't a thing with them secured. The waist band is a joke - I have yet to hear great things about half inch strap digging into your gut. But I suppose that is better than none if you really need it. I have mine clipped backwards under the drawstrings. I don't plan on running thru bushes or trees anytime soon so the most these untethered straps will catch on are doorknobs. I'm sure I'll be annoyed when it happens, but I'm hoping for few and far between.I know it sounds like a lot of dislike, but I really do like this bag, especially because it does the two things I needed to have in a backpack - carry my lunch and my laptop. You'd be surprised at the 9" deep bags that have no space in them because they are partitioned into 3" pockets. For the price (which is pricey for some) this is a good bag that should last you a long time. Regarding the price - if you only use it occasionally, maybe its not a good buy. But if you need a backpack daily, don't skimp. Get one that has all the bells and whistles. Oh, and speaking of which, this does have a built in whistle on the chest strap.

Do everything city dweller bag
Wanted a work/2-3 day non-camping trip (I pack really light to avoid checking a bag)/day hike bag. This works great. A bit bigger than I thought it would be, and I'm glad.

comfortable, roomy and excellent quality backpack
This is my 2nd Osprey backpack. Happy with the quality; well designed for carrying laptop, books, weighty items, whether you use it for travel, skiing, work, where ever your journey takes you. Unique design for water bottles makes sure it does not fall out. I highly recommend it.

Nice quality and design
Apparently there are two Osprey Quasar to purchase in different websites (including Amazon) with slight difference in price, but you can find the newest model (currently this one) if you check the main Osprey website (or maybe it's the european model?!). The differences are minor, the ones I noticed based on checking YouTube clips and photos, other than colouring, dimensions and style, is the form of straps and small pockets at the back to hide the extra parts of the straps after adjusting (which is removed in this model) and I think (I'm not sure). Also the whole front design and logo colouring is different. I think one of the pockets is also removed from the middle section (main middle zipper)Okay here is my honest review:Straps are very comfortable and easy to size and adjust. There are a lot of space in the backpack and my 15.6" laptop fits in it easily and nicely. I don't like the inside zipper (there is only one pocket with zipper inside the bag), because the handle is different and I preferred the same style as the outside zippers. Also only the main section that got a laptop pocket opens with two zippers and all other sections have only one. That red easy access band for keys or cards seems to be made of poor materials and I prefer not to trust it with my keys. I'd appreciate more pockets inside the bag, but current ones are still Okay. Also dispute the really comfortable straps that offers nice control and positioning, I kept sweating on the back while cycling and I think there is no way for ventilation. It's not waterproof or water-resistant. I think this is a good backpack comparing to other ones, but I expected more from Osprey.

Day to Day Bag
I've been using this as my day to day bag for work and it's been amazing. It has a huge amount of storage, feels really comfortable and allows compartments to be safe a secure when fully zipped up. I got this bag because the one I was using for work started to loose its way and get a bit run down, and when it started raining my stuff would be a bit wet from the water that got it. Not good for electric! Thankfully this bags main compartment has a large thick over fold which keeps the water off and the other two compartments haven't had a problem yet.The only thing I have a down side on is how close the handlers are together at the top of the bag. I did notice that when I was just wearing a t shirt, because they're quite close together it started to rub my neck. However after using it, this has gone away, I suppose it was just because of it not being fully warn it yet.Overall great bag and I can't wait to go travelling with it once the C word doesn't exist anymore!!

Brilliant.
Genuinely excellent rucksack. Been worried about replacing my Jansport one from years ago, so I chose to pay a little more and I'm very glad I did. Only complaint is that there are a lot of straps, some of which which I've had to tie back with rubber bands for daily use - a small issue for what is genuinely a great product. It weighs nothing, and will store everything. Ideal.

Great product
Great rucksack, I use this every day for work. has loads of space for shopping etc. I can usually fit a small supermarket shop in this rucksack. Having different compartments is useful for separating items and the small internal pockets allow space for pens, calculators etc. In in all a great bag, I would recommend, only issue I have seen is slight fraying on one of the seams, however not to much that it affects the products structure.

Quality product!
It was bought as a school bag so, for obvious reasons, we've not really used it yet. However, a previous Osprey rucksack lasted most of primary school despite not really being designed for books. So durability as well as design get the thumbs up from us.
