Ferrari should have won.
I Love Ferrari and Ford. should be a good read. I followed this story as it happened in Car and Driver and Road and Track.

Awesome book
My 21yo is a huge car buff - of course watched the movie (more than once or twice) but the book offers additional information that wasn't in the movie. He learned alot & really enjoyed reading it

There Are Much Better Books Out There
This is not a terrible book, but it is likely to disappoint many buyers. There is not much detail about the races and little more about the technical development of either the Fords or Ferraris. For example the 1967 races at Spa, Monza, the Nurburgring, and the Targa Florio are covered in a total of three paragraphs covering maybe a quarter of a page. Given the limited space (115 pages of actual text with many pictures), the amount devoted to various biographies seemed excessive and quotes from books by Mark Donohue and Mauro Forghieri are frequent. I get the feeling that this was hastily put together to capitalize on the film.

The contribution that Ken Miles made to the overall Shelby and Ford programs
Seems like Ford should have figured out the head gasket early on by simply examination of the failure weather head bolts stretching or flat copper head gasket not able to keep water from leaking.

Good overall view
In James May's words on "The Grand Tour", it was an awful lot of money to spend to settle an argument with an angry Italian, but it really enlivened the moribund world of 1960s long-distance racing, and it gave us two of the world's great racing cars, the drop-dead gorgeous Ferrari 330P4 and the workmanlike GT40, culminating in what may be the greatest road warrior of them all, GT40 chassis 1075, Le Mans winner in 1968 AND 1969, the latter by about 100M. This book gives an excellent overview of the period.
