Great guide to avoiding, identifying, and treating injury
This book is a great guide to avoiding, identifying, and recovering from injury without losing fitness. It walks through how to avoid injuries then takes a chapter to explain the most common runners injuries and how to avoid them and recover from them.

Saved myself $350.00 At physical therapy by grabbing this book!
I looked up the chapter that discussed the exact issue I was experiencing with my foot, implemented the suggestions from the book and my foot/Achilles pain went away almost instantly. As a lifelong runner, I am so happy with this book.

Book offers a lot of advice to determine what your injury might be and how to prevent an injury. Not as much advice on how to rehab once you have an injury. Not a lot on my particular injury either (inflamed Achilles). Was just hoping for a little more.

A classic
This book is written in a way that will appeal to many runners at different times in their running careers. I read this as a beginner and got a lot of value from it. Then I reread it after running for a year and it was a different book. You will not regret owning this book.

Best I've read so far for injury prevention
Worth the read for normal runners who are looking to reduce injuries and be smart about running. This book does not cater to any group, and provides information about as specifically as possible for a multitude of common running ailments.

One Star
Bought this because of recurring calf strains. Incredibly, the book doesn't mention cals strains at all!

After reading, I was able to recover quickly from an injury I had and now know what to look out for
At age 30, never having trained running at all, I joined a running club which was a lot of fun (Hash House Harriers to be precise), so I decided to run more often and harder. From then on I trained with an average of 50% increase week on week in speed and distance at the same time for a few months and had really come to a level close to what I was hoping for, when one day suddenly something happened to my feet and knees. I couldn't pinpoint what happened, but it hurt - so I did what I did all my life in sports: I rested a few days. After a few days I continued and could run for a bit before the pain came back, this time really starting to worry me. I went to PT which identified the issue at hand, and then I purchased this book to deepen my understanding and work out how to recover by myself rather than expensive PT. And I flew through it in a few days at maximum speed, because the book is super easy to read, very comprehensive, very precise, and most importantly, easy to navigate. Hence I could go directly to the areas that I thought were relevant to me and found relevant exercises, training plan suggestions, and physiological information on my legs and feet that enabled me to now train very consciously, with clear goals, and most importantly, with excellent results in top time!
