GreenView Pure Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mixture, 3 lb. Bag – Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft.

After 30 years of playing around with top branded shade seed and their false claims, one of the local greens keepers at a golf course I frequent turned me onto this GreenView seed... I'm dealing with 3 large oak trees in my front yard which not only shade the majority of the lawn, but also suck the nitrogen from the soil as fast as I can correct it making for slow germination of new seed if it germinated at all.... On the morning of day 5 I was greeted with a germination rate that was through the roof and I thought my eyes were deceiving me because this has never happened in this area of the yard... Cut the grass on day 11 and have since added more seed in the areas which weren't seeded enough (I think the rate of seed specified per sqft on the bag is to low).... Lawn was given a light coating of fresh topsoil and raked in with the seed.... Areas exposed to the sun were covered lightly with peat moss.... I forgot to take a BEFORE image but I will tell you that this area was almost completely bare before planting.... Attached image is from day 13 taken at 6:30am... I'll be doing a follow-up review after about 30 days and few more mowings...

We are in a drought and it is still growing.

I ordered this grass seed to extend my lawn 3000 square feet. The grass seed took a while to get root, but is now the greenest part of my lawn. I’m impressed with how long the grass stays green. However, some more overseeing will be needed to thicken the lawn. We usually do not see temperatures in the summer above 90 degrees for more than 2 weeks in the summer and stay well below 50 degrees for most of October thru April.

I am happy with this purchase. I purchased Scott Turf Builder in the past and did not get good results.....got good results with this seed. The grass started growing in about two weeks! It is kind of patchy in certain areas but that could be due to uneven distribution of the seeds with the spreader.I really think the success is with the preparation of the soil: I raked the soil to loosen it up, spread the seeds and raked top soil onto the existing soil to cover the seeds. I watered the lawn every day for about 15 minutes.It seemed to do the job!

There weren’t any reviews that had pictures, so I figured I would add some. The first pic is from the first day I spread a 7lb bag in the back yard. The second is a month later; however, it is worth noting I purchase a 2nd 7lb bag sometime in between and added it in. I just purchased a 3rd 7lb bag to fill in the gaps more. In hindsight, I would’ve purchased the 20lb bag initially. I have watered it everyday, it’s in a mostly shady area, and I live in Portland Oregon.Updated: last picture is a few months in- looking good and growing strong :)

Easy to spread, and after 2 weeks i start see result , it grows faster when you spread the seeds and cover the spots with fresh cut grass on top and add water for at least 3 consecutive afternnon if you have a very dry yard like mine

Started out trying on several large area dead spots in my lawn. Prepared the areas, spread seed and covered with about a 1/4 inch top soil. I have tried this for five years with many different grass seed suppliers and No success. This grass seed has not only started and grown, but in areas with sun and shade. I, for one, am buying more and will highly recommend to my friends. Watered daily but not more than once a day when starting seedlings.

This is my first time attempting to plant grass. I saw from other brands that it becomes very difficult to grow, so I went by customer review and have been very impressed by the results. I just ordered more for the rest of my lawn too. I used this in conjunction with the GreenView Fairway Formula Seeding Success Biodegradable Mulch with Fertilizer.
