You can't go wrong with K&M; plus you can get replacement parts
I saw the other desk arms here for $50-to-100 less but try to get replacement parts for these little-known brands years from now. I own many K&M products so I just pulled the trigger and went with known quality. I was surprised when I discovered a high quality 20 foot Neutronix cable is included, already pre-routed through the tubing. It went together with no instructions. It clamped solidly to my shelf and pivots to any position with ease. It came only with an exploded parts diagram with part numbers in case of future need. One minor quibble: included was a small plastic bag with a small washer/spacer with neither part number nor explanation of what it's for. I looked on the diagram to try to identify it but didn't find it immediately so I just marked it with a sharpie in case I ever need it and put it in my microphone case.

XLR cable quality is sub-par
Title says it all. The built-in XLR cable is very noisy, and it appears to be non user replaceable.I bought this for my RE27N/D, which is already a heavy microphone, but paired with the EV 309a shock mount, this arm really struggled to support the weight. It says 1.7 pounds max load, but I would play it safe and say less than this if you want consistency. The rest of the equipment is quality. Springs aren't noisy, desk clamp is sturdy and easy to adjust, and I actually like that the cable is integrated for the sake of neatness; it's just too bad I wouldn't spend any amount of money on this cable alone.

Sure
Lots of cable. Smooth action. Holds up my AKG 420 just fine (1.2 lbs). Mounts strurdy enough for my purposes. Fits on my half desk takes up the whole depth. It's record player next to it in the picture. Cheers.

A very good buy.
This was on the Christmas/birthday list of my son, a professional DJ. He was quite pleased with the product.

Great.
I own three, very solid. If you have a heavier mic you can swap out the springs. Just don’t overtighten, makes it squeaky, instead use the correct spring. Worth the money, very close to studio quality.

Don't buy a cheap one... you'll waste money. This thing is the real deal. Works great and causes no headaches. Worth the price.

Hidden gem of a desk arm!
Before I had run into this desk arm on Amazon, I was in the market for studio grade arms like the M!ka OnAir and O.C. White's ProBoom Elite. It's safe to say that this arm is more than suitable, less expensive substitute with better mounting options to boot. The tensile strength of the springs holds the arm in place just fine, the materials are durable to fit all but the roughest of users, and it holds up heavy condenser microphones just fine (I have an Audio Technica AT2035 attachted to it with zero issues - while it's not particularly heavy, it holds up just fine). The integrated cable works just fine, albeit non-removable and permanent. I'd pick nits just to keep things real, but it's tough to think of any. This would be a definite no-brainer buy if it included a riser!

My arm arrived with the XLR cable backwards. Because it's built in, it's completely useless. Hopefull I can get it replaced with a 2nd unit that was assembled correctly. Def a bummer for the price.

Sturdy and professional
There are much cheaper "anglepoise" style microphone desk stands, but these are the best: solid, sturdy and able to safely hold even quite heavy microphones without drooping.Note that this exact model has now been superseded, but the new model is equally good. K+M is an excellent manufacturer and their products can always be relied upon.

Build quality on this product is top-notch: justifies the high price.
After some research and online comparisons (with in-store investigation not an option due the COVID-19 pandemic), I narrowed my choices to the K&M 23850 Microphone Desk Arm and the RODE PSA-1.The latter was cheaper, but also a less elegant solution. The K&M comes with what seems to be a sturdy/high quality 5m long microphone cable with a 3 pin XLR plug connector. The cable runs through the metal arms of the K&M! This decreases the clutter, and need for additional, tape, velcro or other non-elegant cable-management solutions.Steel construction and the 0.8kg max-load capacity are reassuring. I have attached to the K & M a not so light, large diaphram condenser mic (0.35kg), and clearly, this arm is built hold much heavier and bigger mics.Negative? Cannot be conveniently used with mics with proprietary cables (such as the Audio Technica AE2500 dual mic which houses a dynamic AND a condenser mic phase aligned). For pro-audio, this should be a non-issue 99% of the time.

Faulty cable
The built-in XLR cable seems like a good idea, but on the unit I received it was so noisy that it was entirely unusable. I even checked the cable with a good tester, and there were no continuity issues. I've been a happy K&M customer for many years, and this is the first time that I have been seriously let down by one of their products.

pied micro bureau K&M 23850
