Failed & Smoked in Under 10 Minutes
I've bought several ozone machines (each around the $100 - $150 price level) from Amazon for my maintenance staff to use in multifamily apartment complexes. Each of them (including this unit) have nearly identical internal parts. Similar (unlabeled) transformers and the same ozone plate and socket. Since they're internally the same, I bought this one and planned to take it off it's DIY base and put it into a case. All of our previous units had a pretty short life span, and fail in the same place - right at the base of the ozone socket where the wires are soldered - which arc's itself to death. This vendor also sells just the plates, which appear to come with a socket, so it seemed we could some more life out of the unit by buying some extra plates/sockets.This unit worked out of the box for a quick test, but the second time we plugged it in one plate was finished. Switching the plate into the other socket and onto the other transformer confirmed the one plate was already faulty. A few seconds later, the other plate arc'd so strongly within its socket that you could see it flashing brightly, even though the unit was outside in bright sunlight. I watched the arc jump around for a few seconds until it turned from white to orange, and started to smoke. The long and short of it, this went into the dumpster. There's no way in heck I'm trying another of these, the potential liability as a landlord is ridiculous. You're mileage may vary, but my experience with all of the units we've tried, each that have had this same plate/socket, is they go bad pretty quick. This one's luck was obviously worse. On a side, we borrow a contractor's $500 unit all the time and it has churned out ozone for 100's of hours without incident or failure. I used to think the "industrial" units were for suckers, that you were paying for a company with a website and inside they're the same, but I took his apart and it's a different plate and socket entirely. Might be something to the U.S. companies...

But as we ran this thing that looks like a high school science project the smell went down ...
We bought a house to turn into a rental but heavy smoker was the previous owner. After taking out the cloth window coverings and carpet it still reeked of smoke. Ran this unit in each room for a couple nights with a 20" box fan and then ran it for a number of nights in front of the return air duct for the furnace to get the smell from the HVAC ducts and now no smell. Of course we repainted everything. But as we ran this thing that looks like a high school science project the smell went down noticeably after each treatment. We ran it in an empty house. It also took care of any bugs that were around. Lots of dead bugs the next day.A couple of times I showed up as the unit was running and smell is really intense. I'd hold my breath, turn the unit off and open all the windows and doors to let some air in. Be familiar with the safety concerns regarding ozone if you use this unit. It's powerful. It's very effective and for the price can't be beat. Great unit.

great machine for the job.
Just received this product today and tried it out in one a motel room that was previously smoked in very heavily.Within 1 hr. this thing started releasing a large amount of ozone compared to the crap we brought from HD Supply. The O3 machine has been in the room for 8 hrs. continuously and the smoke smell was gone completely. The final results will come after I remove the device and let the room stand with the AC on till the next day.So far this is a great item, I will put it to the test and see how long it lasts. I just hope it hold up as I am not too fond of how its built without a protective box.I will post a second review once the room is finished and ready to go.

Humidity warning!
This unit comes with "moisture resistant" Ozone plates. Part of the reason that I purchased this unit was the claim of long life of the plates. To say that I was disappointed when the plates started to fail with less than 30 hours on them would be an understatement.I did run this machine in a basement with high humidity, but with lots of air movement. I actually took the door off of the furnace and placed the unit right in front of the door so that the furnace blower sucked air through the basement, past the machine, and then circulated it into the house. When I checked with the manufacturer as to why it was not generating much ozone, the response was to purchase new plates and that I must be using them in a high humidity location :-/

Removed the smoke smell
I purchased the Foreverozone 7000 to reduce the smoke smell from a SUV I recently purchased. This dramatically reduced the odor, it took a few treatments, but the smoke smell isn't really noticeable any more. I also used it in a garage and it removed the smoke smell after the first treatment. It is bare bones, so don't expect a case or retail packaging, but it does function very well.

Simple, but works. Be careful, it is not insulated and can shock very hard if you touch the plates or wires.
