This lens is the best buy in modern pro glass i have seen. I love it.
I love this lens. It is super sharp. The autofocus is smooth and pretty quiet- there is a noise, but its gentle. Autofocus is accurate, fast. The clutch allowing rapid transition to manual focus is genius - t is intuitive and very useful. The focal length range has inspired me to adopt my own holy Hebrew trinity; EF tokina opera 16-28 f/2.8 aspherical, RF canon 28-70 f/2 L, EF canon 70-200 IS III f2.8 L .... On my r5... I was gonna listen to polin and get the 12-24 f/4, and i am glad i didn't, this lens performs as well as any L lens for sharpness AF, i mean, everything... There may be some advantages to using canon in terms of frame rate or maybe AF speed, but if there is, I havent noticed with this lens...The two down sides are:1: not fully weather sealed. There is a rubber gasket at the base/mount, but the lens is not weather sealed ... Though i have used it in rain, snow, and freezing rain, but with a careful deliberation... Hard rain and I cover it up...Also, with all the ice, I have been shooting on frozen lake huron, where waves freeze and collide and create beautiful ice formatiobs... That also can surprise you stripping your feet from ubder you... I have fallen 2 times the past 3 weeks, both times carrying this lens. It has taken several solid spills and shows no signs of those injuries. It has great build quality.2) the front element is a large, bulbous piece of glass which protrudes from the lems body too far for lens filter threading and lens filters... Making a uv or protective filter impossible... And also preventing convenient use of polarizer, etc... Now, i feel tokina could modify the built in lens hood to simply feature a wider diameter, and place the filter thread into the lens hood... Even if it meant a 95mm filter size, it would be a simple, highly beneficial improvement...They already made imprivenentsover the previous 16-28 ... Namely creating the new lens hood - which is awesome and i hope they never change although I would love to see comprehensive seals and the ability to use filters... But leave the rest alone. I wouldn't change any of the optics for a frobt filter thread... It has great character while still really, really sharp. I love this lens. It is my fav - I have been fortunate recently and ive veen able to get several lenses I have wanted for so long... And the rf 28-70 f/2 is what precipitated my alteration of the established 11-24, 24-70, 70-200 trinity... Or the 16-35 as the wide angle... Trting to save money for the nuts price on the 28-70 f/2 i started looking into alternatives for a wide angle zoom...After a super super long time looking for a solution that wouldnt conpromise the possibilities or outcomes negatively while resulting in a relatively significant savings ... I almost got an old 16-35 f2.8 but still $$$ or questionable condition ... I almost got a real old 17-35 f/4 to really save, but i really dont want small aperture zooms anymore unless I just HAVE TO...I cant believe no one is talking about this lens. It really works well on my r5 as well as on canon dslr cameras... It was so inexpensive for what it provides.... The results - if I had both lenses, I would only pick up the L lens in inclimate weather. I really like the new 16-35 A LOT... A friend let me borrow his a week before I got the tokina to feel it out and I really liked it... So much I almost didn't get the tokina ... Because someone knocked the lens cap... But with the OPERA 16-28, the lens cap is luxury, and seriously, I love this lens. Idk. I didnt know if i would regret it, kept waiting, then caught 100$ off offer on it and jumped on it.I tell you now, most everything will be impressive about this lens, but the minor disappointment of the lack of comprehensive weather sealing and the lack of a front filter thread...

Damn good lens
I am always leery about buying non Canon glass, but I am absolutely thrilled with this super wide zoom. I have used it for concerts, sports, and real estate shoots and it has performed brilliantly. I have no real complaints except for the fact that you cannot mount a filter, aside from that, it's worked very well.

Worked Perfect For 2 Years
I loved this lens.... it was the perfect starter lens for Real Estate Photography. However, 2 years in and I'm experiencing focusing issues. Wish it gave me more time because it really was my go to!!!!

Better advertised as f/4 lens
While quite sharp beginning at f/4 it is not a great lens at f/2.8. That being said despite its limitations it compares very favorably with lenses costing much more.

Great product, affordable price
I typically take portraits but was contacted to take interior shots for an Airbnb. This worked great for that. I am very pleased with the outcome.

Not a good equipment investment, stopped working after 4 months.
Lens only lasted 4 months.I am a real estate photographer. I have all my equipment for work packed in a padded pelican case. I do around 12 houses per week. One day I just hear something rolling around inside the lens, zoom and focus are locked, it became useless. Photos where clear and colors where good, but not a professional lens when it comes to durability. Absolutely not recommended. Worst equipment investment I have done, I have purchased used lenses (stored in the same pelican case) and have had them for more than 4 years with no problems. Definitely stay away from this lens.

Comparable to the Canon lens, 100s less!
This is an incredible lens. We were hesitant that the price was so much less than a cannon branded lens that it would be inferior quality.... WRONG! Watch the YouTube reviews and see for yourself that they're right and this lens rivals the Canon for hundreds less. This is a no-brainer folks, just buy it if your comparing versus the cannon!

Excelente construcción, materiales de buena calidad
Objetivo fuerte y robusto, de muy buenos materiales en su construcción, auque lo hacen algo pesado, su apertura a f22 da una buena apertura de campo, utilizado en una canon RP con adaptador de montura RF

Richtig geile Linse

Awesome lens
This lens is perfect to level up from your kit lens and it is both for photographer and film maker .Usually this focal length is way dramatic and this lens offer perfect output.Built quality Is good and sturdy but a bit heavy, sharpness is remarkable and AF is also very impressive. To conclude a must buy lens for every photographer and filmmaker.
