The mat does what it claims-- up the temp 10 deg F above surrounding temp. As my home is at 68deg, my plant dome ( which sits on the mat) is kept at about 78deg. That being said, I sure wish there is a mat out there that could heat my dome to any temp I like, because I have some seeds that need 85F to germinate. If your surrounding temp is way low, then this mat is not for you since it will not heat your plants anymore than 10 deg above room temperature.

I'm on my computer a lot and a cold desk can be very annoying and even painful for my wrists. I mounted two of these under my wood desk surface and plugged them into a timer. One lies directly under my keyboard and another under my mouse. My desktop is now always comfortable to the touch.Currently my office is set at 70 degrees and heated by an electric wall heater (way off).My measured ambient temperature is 63.5 degrees.A near by wooden chest has a surface temperature of 64 degrees.My desktop is sitting at 84.5 degrees.

This product works exactly as advertised. I would caution those who are planning to purchase it on a couple of points: It works very efficiently, but a humidity dome or something similar needs to be placed on top of it to prevent too much evaporation. In addition, you may want to consider purchasing a thermostat in order to maintain the proper temperature.This mat works wonders for seedlings and will very easily increase your germination rate of seeds quickly and efficiently. It does not use a great deal of power and mine has worked flawlessly since I purchased it. I would definitely recommend this seedling heat mat to anyone who is looking for a product like this. It easily fits two seedling trays (maybe more if you use a little bit of creative geometry).

My husband has poor circulation and I wanted a way to keep his feet warm without any chance of burns. The fact this pad only warms to a little above ambient temperature made it perfect. I figured if it didn't work for his feet, I could finally get around to actually starting seeds this spring!I could tell he was skeptical when he opened it at Christmas, but he is now a believer! The fact it is moisture safe added to my comfort level - fewer worries about coffee spills! And after he goes to bed, I often enjoy the gentle warmth myself!

I'm using the mat to germinate gomphrena and I was a bit concerned about how much heat this tiny mat could generate. This morning I got out my meat thermometer (don't tell my wife) and put in the soil - it registered 94 degrees! That's 27 degrees warmer than my basement temperature. Now I'm starting to worry it might be a bit too warm, but I can always crack the lid and let the heat escape. I'm impressed.

Came on time, in good condition, maintained temp well and my seeds sprouted in record time. Did not overly-dry the peat pots and had a good temp regulation. Was not super-sensitive to water. Would definitely recommend purchasing this over trying to make a home-made version. I tried the home-made version for two years with much less success.

If you like to get a head start with your seeds, this certainly helps you to do so. The size is also important. I think some that I saw were just too small. This spring I like to start some of my favorite herb seeds early such as holy basil (tulsi) a wonderfully fragrant and medicinal variety of basil, not easily to get in store or on line as well as some tomatoes and peppers.

I start seeds every year and had pour results with 50% or less of the seeds sprouting. Read about these on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Every single seed sprouted (100% I could not believe it!), grew faster and were healthier too. I have NEVER had that happen before. I am soo excited. Get this it is worth every penny.
