AVENGERS BY JASON AARON VOL. 5: CHALLENGE OF THE GHOST RIDERS

I can't stand the new GR. I don't like his backstory, I don't like the car, and I don't like HIM. I was hoping that this was how they got rid of him but instead it just set up Iron Man in the stone age, what a disappointment. Gimme Johnny Blaze anytime, he's the only good GR there ever was.

This is a good book. It exposed more of this version of The Ghost Rider and the past versions than little that I knew. I like this. He kind of has a spiderman type vibe, with his youth and inexperience. I never was a fan of Blade but this series has turned that around.

A decent volume

It is a very good series

I love Jason Arron - almost anything he's ever wrote, but I'm not a fan of any of his Avenger's run after the first arc with the celestials. Maybe he's brewing the pot and something is coming but it just seems to me he's in coating mode and he has better things to do. This guy wrote Scalped. Come on Jason, something with meat please.

Four pointless issues of Robbie Reyes and Johnny Blaze racing through Hell. Why? I don't really know. And because Cosmic Ghost Rider is the 2020 version of 90's Wolverine, he gets thrown in there too. Marvel, I got news for you. Cosmic Ghost Rider is dumb. If it hadn't already happened, I pretty sure Ghost Rider jumped the shark in this during the race. This series has completely gotten away from Jason Aaron. Stefano Caselli's art is very good at least. And to charge you an extra $4 for this, Marvel reprinted Robbie Reyes first appearance in there as well, with some terrible Tradd Moore art to look at.

Everything Aaron writes turns into a major saga!

I wanted this book to be so much better than it was. When Johnny Blaze became the king if hell I though it would be huge and a lot more Ghost Rider action but that whole story like was wasted. Though I am glad it did some good for Robbie Reyes.The artwork us great especially Ghost Rider parts. This would have been a good Ghost Rider story did it need to be an Avengers story. For me all the panels used on the Avengers I just wanted to get back to the rigged Ghost Rider race.I am hoping on the next Ghost Rider series there is a better direction and use of all the riders Johnny, Robbie, Dan and the Caretaker. The book does also setup the next Avengers storyline for Tony. The book also contains the first issue of Robbie becoming the Ghost Rider and a thumbnail cover gallery of New Avengers 25.
