Very good, but has some editing problems
This is the second book about Titus Bass and it finds him going west to the mountains to finally see buffalo and become a trapper. Bass first meets up with one group of trappers that begin to teach him the ways of the mountain man. Bass stays with them for around three seasons, loyal to them even though they aren't true companions and take advantage of him. Through Indian attacks, making friends with the Shoshone, meeting a better group of companions Bass becomes an excellent trapper and well versed in the mountain man life. A very good book, unfortunately it has continuous typo and wrong words throughout the text.

The raw rough life of a mountain man's adventures
Excellent story of Rocky Mountain trappers . Tough, gritty, and utterly enthralling. The Titus Bass series is in the top tier of Mountain Men books . You will need to do a little research to determine the proper order if you wish to read the trilogy in sequence. With the movie The Revenant released in 2016 anyone interested in the world of the mountain men wont be disappointed by T Johnston's books. Powerful stories with an understated magnificence of pathos and everyday courage. I worry I cannot do this writer justice but hope others will sample his books and take a journey of true adventure and living history.

Terry Johnston is just an outstanding writer of western history. Throughout this novel I felt as if I was on his journey with Tidas Bass. The book was exciting, moving, and spellbinding leaving the reader wanting more. One really comes away with an understanding of what it was like to be a mountain man in the Rockies in 1825. This is an often overlooked part of our history. I really look forward to digging into the next novel in this series.

Wow 2nd time I've rest it
When you can feel the mountains around you. The beavers intheir homes. An the cold winds blowing. While reading a book you know you found a man that can write a book. Without a doubt one of the finest western books I've ever read. Stand right up there withe the book ( the big sky) which I read in and for school back 40 years ago. If you like books about America and the West you have found a treasure read them all. I have to say I wish I was paid to say that or the book was Givin to me so I could tell you. What I felt about the book but I paid full price and plan on paying full price for the rest of this man's books. They are so worth it.

If you are a student of history and the development of American western frontier all 10 of these books are very good, informative and a great story of a young man as he grows older and wiser. Johnston, in my opinion is a master of early American western history and storytelling with facts. They must be read in the following order to get the full story:1. Dance on the wind – 1794-18242. Buffalo palace – 18253. Crack in the sky4. Carry the wind5. Border Lords6. One-eyed dream7. Ride the moon down8. Death rattle9. Ride the moon down – 1834 – 184010. Wind walkers - 1847 – 1853

Captivating!
Titus Bass introduces us to the life of the mountain man - what went into his shaping and moulding, and the things that developed his character. Johnstone draws on real and imaginary people in this, and yes, it's captivating! I'll be back to read more of it.

Missing books in Kindle format in series.
I am enjoying these books and was happy to discover there were several of them, continuing the story. That is, until, I was ready for book 4 and found that there is no Kindle format of it. There is for book 5, and I don't know how it will go from from here. Very annoying, to say the least, why not do the series?

This is quite a read about fur trappers in the USA.. I was quite surprised as I had no real idea what to expect and I got the first book as a freebie, but bought the 2nd.. That says a lot about the quality of the book and I would list the author as "one to watch"

Bass rides again.
Having read the first Titus Bass story I was glad to catch up with his continuing adventures. I only wish Amazon would number the books to make it easier to stay in the correct order.
