SEAL Team: Season Two
G**K
Lots of action, good character development and story line.
The owning network dropped this from their paid All Access service in the middle of introducing a family member to series, and not available on any streaming services at a decent price - boo on the network. Just boo. So we had to buy two seasons and watch in standard def but bonus no commercials. In any case the series is a keeper. If you liked The Unit or Black Hawk Down give this one a shot. They actually work hard to avoid the obvious firearm and team movement mistakes seen in most series and movies and it helps with the realism.

"SEAL Team" gives viewers insight into what makes "special" forces special (few SPOILERS)
CBS’ “SEAL Team” comes back for a second installment and picks up ~6 months after things left off in its freshman outing. Bravo Team hasn’t had a mission and is getting antsy just doing training when they’re deployed to Saudi Arabia. Bravo is tasked to stop a Shiite extremist group from putting anthrax into a critical aquifer jeopardizing countless civilians. There’s plenty of action as the guys accomplish the operation and we’re off and running for another exciting season. Drama does ensue with a couple of deaths (I won’t reveal) that hit the team hard; Sr. Chief Ray Perry has a crisis of faith, Master Chief (‘Bravo 1) Jason Hayes deals with daughter Emma’s pending departure for college, and Clay Spenser struggles with Stella’s inability to handle the demands of his chosen vocation. Complicating matters is the very unlikely romance between Sonny Quinn and Lisa Davis. They worry about ‘fraternizing’ but they’re both enlisted and the same rank (PO1’s) not in one another’s reporting chain so they’re really not breaking the rules but generally it’s still not wise to date co-workers. That situation is going to change when Lisa is selected for Officer’s Candidate School and ultimately has to leave Bravo Team and become a despised “cake eater”. Tensions develop between Jason and CIA Officer Mandy Ellis after she questions his emotional fitness for a mission and later challenges his judgment. As in the first season “SEAL Team” offers viewers plenty of combat action that’s very well done and compelling to watch. The production company looks like they’ve got cooperation from the armed forces as we get to see what look like operational aircraft such as the Osprey, C-17, and Super Cobra (or maybe Viper) gunship in various episodes. Watching an A-10 shred a bunch of “tangos” makes you understand why grunts love the Warthog. Uniforms and gear all look legit to this former Army/Air Force veteran but Lisa’s pony tail looks out of regs to me…just saying. Also I don’t know about Sonny’s shiny silver bracelet that he wears on missions; not exactly tactical. The scripts are interesting and the storylines plucked from the headlines and feel relevant. Happily the writers mostly avoid the hokey dialog that sometimes plagues military themed shows and the actor’s deliver their lines in such a way that feels authentic. Some emotional moments that could be eye rolling are not so. Attention is given to the plight of our wounded warriors with a storyline about a former SEAL, Brett Swann struggling with PTSD and TBI. The episode “Medicate and Isolate” in particular highlighting his treatment at the VA is painful to watch. I’m a veteran and get most of my healthcare from the VA; it’s not perfect but not quite as grim as depicted, at least from my experience. There are plenty of vets who still need help and have to fight to get the assistance they need and it’s laudable that “SEAL Team” shines some light on their dilemma. In a fun bit of casting Kristy Swanson appears as a DoD psychologist who hooks up with Jason at one point. Swanson starred in the 1992 film “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and of course David Boreanaz co-starred in the TV version of ‘Buffy’ which was inspired by the movie. When all’s said and done “SEAL Team” is an engaging series that will give viewers a plausible look at what makes our “special” forces actually special. Watch the special features and you will gain an appreciation for the amount of hard work the cast and production team put into making this a great show. Count me in for season three!

Seal sequel 👍
A great follow up to Season 1! Enjoy it as much. The reality level is still present and action is still up there and it is still believable. Wonder if a season three is in the works for DVD. Go for it

GREAT series!
Season 2 wasn't as good as Season 1 but it was still great. Waiting for release of Season's 3 & 4! Hope they don't disappoint! Maybe I should've been streaming them on-line to decide whether to keep buying them. I heard that they've renewed for a Season 5.

TELLINGLY EXPLORING BENEATH THE SURFACE
More crack unit escapades when sent on top secret highly dangerous missions. Hostages rescued. Drug cartels smashed. Major terrorists captured or destroyed. Viewers craving adrenalin-fuelled excitement will find much to satisfy here. The series in fact represents far more than a succession of gung-ho antics. It delves deeply into the physical and mental strain such exploits incur. When very real comradeship exists within a team, what the effect on them all when tragedy intervenes, either in battle or at home? One issue raised is the failure officially to accept traumas resulting from horrendous experiences. Here, movingly depicted, is the plight of one trying to convince the authorities he is in a bad way. Then, of course, there is the effect on loved ones left behind, they ever in dread of a knock on the door and devastating news.David Boreanas impressively heads a fine cast (that must often be exhausted after all expected to do). Storylines may at times seem far-fetched, but those in the know vouch for authenticity. (Again a surprise is the absence of swearing, this in circumstances where one might have expected quite a bit. Does this reduce plausibility? If not, then certain other shows with expletives so common would do well to take note.)22 episodes. Bonuses include an interesting half hour feature on how major characters struggle to cope with the challenges. In one way and another, this powerful series has much to offer.

A good second season
Those who liked season 1 will definitely like season 2. The flaws are the same: a little bit too much patriotism, an unrealistically noble CIA, our boys are the best, etc. etc. The Navy Seals being a gang of highly trained assassins, you would not expect one of them to have a major crisis because one of their victims died without being administered the Catholic rites. But in the end everything turns out fine: two couples overcome their crises, there is romance in the air, and Jason pays his daughter's bills. Despite all its shortcomings, the series is quite enjoyable. There is action en masse, the good always win and the bad guys (muslim, of course) always die. Seals never miss a shot, their enemies always. Good entertainment, not very realistic but still pleasant to watch.
