Rushed, and written poorly.
I'm normally okay with a really short ebook, as long as the story is great, but I never really felt involved in the plot. The characters fell flat, and they went from strangers to sex buddies at an unnaturally quick, clunky pace. Better editing and a little more character development would have made a huge difference in this book. Most of all, I hated that Scott constantly used the phrase "like a girl" as an insult. Being a girl doesn't make someone weaker or more prone to hysterics. Being physically weaker than a man is biology, but having a panic attack isn't limited to the female gender, nor does it imply a man is mentally weak "like a girl". One turn of phrase I could have excused, but I actually began to severely dislike the main character because every time he did something that he perceived to be a weakness, his derogatory comment of choice was that he acted like a girl. As an actual girl, the author should know better.

Morgan and NIk's Story
Okay, I am officially hooked! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the other R J Scott books I have read and so took a chance on a new series (well, new to me, anyway) and I knew after the first few chapters that I was hooked. I've already purchased the next two in the series and can't wait to read them. In Guarding Morgan, the two main characters appear one dimensional on the surface when they are introduced but there are many levels to their personalities and their approach to life. Your heart goes out to Morgan as he struggles with his new life as a federal witness that the FBI can't protect due to a breach in security. Nightmares plague him. Nik is tired. He's just coming off a difficult assignment and planning on some down time when his closest friend calls him. Taylor is FBI and he has just been shot and hasn't even called 911 yet. The guy he was protecting (Morgan) has been sent to find Nik so that Nik can protect him when Taylor couldn't. Turns out Sanctuary is Morgan's only chance. This book went to places I expected and to others I never saw coming. I'm intrigued with Sanctuary as an idea and a possibility. Also pissed at the FBI's attitude toward some witnesses. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, romance (don't be put off because it is two men) and HEA's. There's just enough of a cliffhanger to pull you into the next novel in the series without feeling as if you were set up. Go for it! You'll enjoy the ride.

you must read the whole series to fully enjoy the tale
I'm doing an overall series review because in my opinion you can't just read one book, you must read the whole series to fully enjoy the tale. Yes, each book is a standalone in regards to the couple that is featured and that each book has a separate part of the mystery that begins and ends but the series is centered around the bringing down of the Bullens family. Now, I will say that some people might be a little put off by the suddenness of each couple getting together but I found them perfectly acceptable for both the characters and the scenarios. Because of the possible life and death situations that the Sanctuary team members and their subsequent charges are placed in, I felt that it was very believable for each couple to realize grabbing life and love with everything they have when it's right in front of you, the right call. This might be a turnoff for some but it was not for me.I found it to be a well written, character driven tale that is definitely worth reading. As I started out with, I think it should be read as one long story to get the sweeping effect of both the mystery and the love as well as the friendships that are explored.

Lovely
As always RJ Scott, never disappoint you, when you get into her world.I read this last night as I couldn't sleep and it didn't lull me to sleep.Morgan Drake is a cubical rat, sweet, shy, withdrawn and adorable to no end. He wants to be an artist but had to get a job to help his family out.One night he is witness to a murder and after that, he is a witness under FBI protection. When his hideout is compromised, he is picked up by Nikolaj Valentinov, a bodyguard working for Sanctuary. They hide in a safe house up in the mountains, away from other people.Nik is the typical determent by-the-book bodyguard, eyes on the ball and all that. However, he is also rather lonely and soon falls hard for the sweet Morgan. The feelings are mutual and after a little fighting they end up in the shower together – and isn't that a treat for them and us as readers.Love and sex happens over the next weeks but soon it is time to get Morgan to the witness stand to testify. However, not everything is going the way it is supposed to.Morgan and Nik are a sweet and adorable couple, providing smiles and happiness and a little sad along the story.PS; The otter, ohhh the otter ;)

Great Series
Let me preface my review by saying I won't write one if I didn't like a book. I don't want to hurt any authors' feelings. That being said, I found this series by accident and was very glad I did. The first chapter had me a tiny bit confused but that didn't last long at all. I was hooked by the second chapter. I just finished book #10 - THAT'S how much I liked the series. Each time I thought the case was closed, over, end of story, I was wrong I suppose you could start with book 4 or 7 or any other but I suggest starting with the first one. I've read most of the reviews here and have very little to add. There are some things that I'd like to say but don't want to spoil anything for a new reader. Now that I finished the Sanctuary series, I just uploaded all of the Bodyguard series and the Ellery Mountain series. I have faith that I'll like those just as much.

Wanted more...
I was gripped at the beginning...it started with plenty going on and I was excited to see what this author had planned. I have not read this author before and after looking at the blurbs for the books in this series I decided it was worth a read. But after the first few chapters and they were in the cabin safe...chapter after chapter were very uneventful and a little dull and slow. I was hoping for some action, conflict and nothing happened.Plus one minute Morgan was determined not to throw himself at Nik...and then he does just that..without explanation as to why he suddenly changed his behaviour. Then when there is action it's skipped over and jumps to weeks later after everyone's recovered!..and then it's the end. I feel a little cheated of the details. I know that romance is a part of this and its one of the reasons I read it...but there wasn't really 'romance' and very little action...I am going to read the next but I am hoping it improves otherwise it will be a great shame that a promising plot is not really reaching its potential...and I don't understand why, after reading many gay romance genre..they are not longer, it's a very common problem it seems and its a real shame.

Good Read
This book by RJ Scott is about Morgan who witnessed a brutal murder of a woman by a cop, and agreed to become state witness. Needless to say his life is on the line, and he's taken into witness protection by the FBI, but there is a traitor in the FBI and Morgans cover is blown and the agent guarding him is wounded and calls on his friend Nik who works for Sanctuary a independent organisation to guard Morgan. A good story well worth reading

excellent
A great book from start to finish Morgan and Nik are two lovely guys who just could not help falling in love with each other Although keeping someone safe while falling for them is not easy Nik managed to do it, and by the end of the book they were not only best friends but in love as well A great first story of an excellent collection
