At this low price I didn't have high expectations and was therefore pleasantly surprised when it survived repeated opening and closing. I was looking for a fully automatic (both opening and closing) compact umbrella as a gift for someone who is commuting on public transit a lot.While that automatic opening and closing worked fine for me, the intended recipient of this umbrella found it difficult to push the button. She liked the compact size when pushed back together but there too felt it needed too much strength to do so. What finally caused her to decline the gift however was the weight (that is the flip-side of using strong steel in the construction of the umbrella).I really like this umbrella and will keep it for myself instead.I haven't had it long enough to make any comments on durability but I don't see any obvious weak points.Pros:- automatic opening and closing (single hand operation)- seems strong and sturdy- push button not likely to activate by accident (requires strong push)- medium size umbrella when opened- compact size when closed and pushed back togetherCons- automatic open/close button requires strong push (not suitable for weak hands)- too heavy to carry around just in case

First time using the umbrella, at least 250-300 miles away from coastline during recent hurricane Sally. Needless to say, we had some brisk winds which turned the umbrella inside out when I opened it. I pulled the umbrella back into shape and started walking to my car with the umbrella facing towards the wind so it would not flip inside out again. Instead the wind made the entire frame bend out of shape. Now the umbrella is contorted and will not hold its original shape. It is lopsided when open.I could look past the fact that circumstantially it was windier than usual but the specs on this unbrella states 'weatherproof' and I assure you it is not. This umbrella is meant for rain, with possibility of light breezes. Do not purchase this umbrella if you desire something sturdy.

Great umbrella. Easy open, close, and appears very sturdy. Happy with the purchase.However, at the time of this review, the description reads:"SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT AND COMPACT... {snip}... It comes with a hard case and an extra large sleeve with zipper for easy storage of your strong umbrella in any purse and backpack"This description is incorrect. Mine did not come with a "hard case", only the usual soft sleeve. It's not a huge deal (since no hard case is pictured), but I would respectfully suggest that the description please be updated

I would have given this umbrella all 5 stars but it weighs a little too much. I can handle the 13.5 inch length but it weighs just underone pound. The umbrella opens and closes great and I love how sturdy it is but that is where the extra weight comes from.I could trade weight for an umbrella that is less sturdy but I trust this umbrella to hold up under all windy and rainy weatherconditions. Instead I’ll happily keep this umbrella and know that when it is folded into its sleeve it is sturdy enough to use as a baton to fend of any weirdos I may encounter in my travels.

I had this umbrella for 4 days,as it rain,a gust of strong wind, causing one of the plastic clamps,attached the the umbrella,metal brackets to break..this causes the umbrella to lose some of its structural strength.. avoid this product, design flaw,and poor durability.

broke the first day I used it. never again. Mechanism is made of plastic and busted on the first day of simply pressing the button and the whole mechanism giving out. would love to get my money back. terrible terrible terrible worst purchase i ever made. and occurred on a day where we had 2 inches of rain.

I bought two umbrellas to place in our cars. These appear very sturdy. They our a bit heavier than the cheaper brands I have bought in the past but I do not expect to carry them for hours on end.No rain since I bought them but the mechanism works well. The slide on case will probably be ditched after a use or two. It's too tight to put back on the umbrella.

I have been using my umbrella for about 3 weeks to shield me from the Las Vegas sun/heat. It's been kind of windy lately and so far, my umbrella has turned inside out, as well as, been forced closed by the wind to where I thought it was broken but, the Repel umbrella has held up so far. Great item!These umbrellas are worth the purchase price. They are definitely higher quality than the majority of those on the markets. They are very functional and do perform well in windy conditions. I’ve purchased one for all of our vehicles.
