Super tight fit.
Almost didn't get this installed. I had to finagle it a bit to get it to line up with the holes. But once set it's there for good. Super solid and feel permanent which is fine with me.

Well made but needs modified
The male ends of the rack need to be ground down to fit in the recesses of the backrest. I knew this was a possibility when I bought it. Looks good when done though.

no mounting bolts..disappointing
The rack looks good and seems to align properly but now I have to go to Ace hardware and purchase bolts...errr

Needs to be bent in a vice to fit
The paint is good on this rack, it will not line up with the holes so you have to bend the metal mounting bars out, keep the mounting bolts in when you bend the bars. Once the rack is installed it does not sit level and doesn’t look right, it may have to be bent down , I carry blankets on the rack now so you can’t see that the rack doesn’t sit level

Used a rubber mallet to seat it.
Looks good to start but will have to see how it does over time. It didn’t come with the.mounting bolts but I had some that worked perfect. The fit was snug but some gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet put it in place.

Worth the money
Bought this knowing their might be some slight fitment issue but was willing to chance it because the name brand was so expensive. I did have to spread the tubes to make it fit. Used a previous reviewers technique of using a floor jack to spread the tubes. Gloss black finish was in great shape

Very nice after minor / easy modification. Worth the savings from name brand.
Posts will be 1-2 mm to close and will not fit into mounting slots. I used a floor jack (pictured above) to spread the post ever so slightly. A scissor jack wont work, trust me. PUT THE SCREWS IN IT TO PROTECT THE SHAPE OF THE TUBE AND THE THREADS BEFORE U ATTEMPT TO SPREAD IT. Again, trust me on this one too. If u spread it too far, wrap the tube in a shop towel and use a rubber mallet and give it a good whack to get it back to good. Don't bother with the washers that show up, they r to small, just spend the $1.50 and get ones that will cover the hole instead of letting an edge slip in. Overall a good product and worth the minor hassle to save the money from the Indian brand luggage rack.

fit perfect on my 2017 Chieftain
I hesitated to order because 2 previous reviews said they had to alter it to make it fit. I don't know if the mfg fixed the problem or what but it fit perfectly on my 2017 Chieftain, no modification needed. 2 screws (provided) and it was on. Very simple. Just did 2,000 mile ride with it holding my stuff, no problems what so ever. Cost much less than the one directly from Indian & it looks good too.
