I don't think you have to marinate unless you are using soft plastic, it will change the color of your lure if you do( sometimes makes it better since it turns it pink/ red, matching the color of the rock fish better).. if you do marinate use gloves or be ready for your hands to smell lik garlic for a while.lol I just add a couple of drops to my lures or cut up bait lik sardines, mackerel, aquid etc...give it a try. 9 times out of 10 I get a bite as soon as it hits bottom...... just make sure to have the right line and set up for the fishing you are doing. that's the most important part getting on the fish and having the right gear, line, and hook... if you got everything right it will land more and bigger fish then the guy next to you doing the same thing with the same set up.
