Overall great product
The media could not be loaded. This item is definitely going to be picky about your gate and how things are setup, but if you're at least a little bit handy you can figure out how to get it to work correctly. You'll notice in this video I had to add an extra piece of wood behind the gate bracket. For some reason, the closer doesn't like to close all the way to 180 degrees, so the standoff was required to get the force right. It definitely took a little time/trial/error to get the closer in the right spot, but in the end it was worth it. I spent about 2.5 hours, and I'm pretty handy. The gate closes, every time, and it opens quietly, at least for now. It makes zero noise - my number one LIKE about this product. My old closer was a noisy spring and good luck opening the gate late at night while being quiet. This product feels sturdy, well designed and high quality. I'll update my review if my mind changes after further use. Installed 7/25/2020.

it does what it’s supposed to
Need to make sure the gate is closed for I rattlesnake proofed the backyard. It works like a charm.

It works
The brackets seem cheap compared to lockey TB100 but the springs on the Kant slam is just a bit bigger so more force to close the gate. It also hangs up when I open the gate near 80degree.

Does Exactly What it is Supposed to do.
Pros:It closes the gate securely every time.Easily adjustable ensuring the gate closes completely but not too hardAttractive hardware (Our HOA is very narrow on what they’ll allow. It was approved quickly). The installation wasn’t difficult (a little fussy, See Below).Cons:Our daughter complains that the gate is now hard to open (You can’t have everything). The installation instructions are not well written.I’ll grant you the instructions for installing the unit are not the easiest to follow. My wife (who is very mechanically inclined) and I sat down at the kitchen table and worked through the assembly with all the parts prior to the actual install. Once we were outside at the gate, the install went reasonably quickly (with a couple caveats). With some of the brackets, the order you put the screws in and tighten them matters. The hardware would block access to some of the screw-holes once the bracket was secured.Spreading the cotter pin was a tad tricky because there wasn’t much room to work. We’ve had the unit up for two months now, and everything is still working perfectly. The gate closed firmly and securely every time. The kids are no longer slamming the gate, which is helping all the gate hardware stay intact. We're very happy with the purchase.

It worked great... for a few days. The tension is strong... but doesn't close all the way anymore.
I was very pleased when I installed this system. I used the Kant-Slam on a PVC gate for a Daycare Center. It worked great. The tension is strong. So in order to prevent damaged to the post, I added plates on the front and back, then mounted the spring bracket. It seems to be holding up well, to a lot of traffic. A Friend in Fence LLC. Longwood FL.UPDATE: Installed at the end end of August. Work as described for a short while. Went to the daycare today, September 10th and I see the kant slam has stopped closing all the way. It's also rusting in several spots. Looks and works like a piece of junk. BIG disappointment. I will now deal with lost time and money while I cure the problem. I'll let you know how the warranty works out.Update: I was looking to buy another one of these for a pool gate application. Then was reminded by my own review on how problematic the Kant Slam was for me years back. It looked like a rusty piece of something that rhymes ship after a year. In all fairness, part of the operational problem was due to the vinyl gate and post it was attached to. Without a solid backing, it will give way and lose its close position. The Daycare eventually went with a wood fence and gate. They did not use the Kant Slam for that. The question is, will I buy another one for a high traffic public pool gate job? I try to avoid unnecessary problems in my business. So I have to say, not very likely. There are much better self closers on the market. They just cost a lot more. But as they say, You get what you pay for. I guess I'll just leave it as an option with full disclosure to the customer, pending their reaction to more costly high quality self closer. Will it work for you? It'll probably work for a while under a low traffic scenario.... just keep a can of black paint handy. I hope that helps. Dave Mattice- A Friend in Fence LLC. Easy Swap
We had an identical 12 year old Kant-slam closer which finally failed. Exchanged the broken one easily with the new one. Some reviews are critical of unclear instructions. I disagree. I read them through a couple of time, and the installation is straight forward. The unit works perfectly and hoping to get another dozen years of service from it.

VERY strong springs
Installed on a 50" wide picket fence gate. Instructions were ok, but had to read through several times. The order of installation could be improved, I had to take some installed stuff off to put other stuff on. But that's ok. It works as advertised. But I had to return it. The shock absorber is adjustable for closing speed, but the spring pressure is not. Some adult family members had a great deal of difficulty pushing the gate open. Perhaps this should be offered in different models with different spring tensions.
