that works just fine for my plants
Used the pumice for my succulents. The rocks are not uniform in size. Ranged from dust to about 3/8" in size. But, that works just fine for my plants. It has an earth tone color (beige/tan). Not the prettiest for a top dressing, but works great for mixing into soil.

Great for soil lightening
It is a dual purpose stone. I used it initially to lighten soil for succulents. It works great mixec with Coir. Then I noticed fungus gnats in some long established fern pots and used it 3 inches deep on top of soil to stop the gnats access to the soil to breed. It worked. It took 1 month and some neem oil spray mixed up with water, but it is controlling them. The BIGGEST complaint is that they are so light weight that they float out of the pots if I am not extremely careful about watering. I also use them as top dressing on succulents.

All things considered, I don't think I'll be buying this particular product again.
I have two sort of minor complaints about this stuff. #1 - Number one is the lack of uniformity of the materiel. The individual particle size varies greatly, from a maximum of about 9-12mm, to a minimum of about .5 to 1mm, the vast majority of it being of the smaller size. I've included 2 pictures here, the first of which does not show the majority of the particles being the smaller size, but the second, where I have tried to sweep the materiel away, only the bigger particles were moved, leaving the majority of the "sand grain sized" pieces .#2 - My second complaint was the way it was packaged. It is in an extremely flimsy plastic bag which ruptured during shipment. Which would not have been a problem, except that the box was also ruptured. This only became aparent when I began to split the tape. I slid a knife under the top flap of the box, split the tape and !bang!, the split side of the box expanded and now I have a kitchen floor FULL of sand grain sized particles of pumice.

I'm glad to be able to find excatly what I was ...
I'm glad to be able to find excatly what I was looking for. It's a tad bit small in stone size but it's doing the job. It being my first bag , I have nothing to compare it to. Over all I'm pleased and satified with the product.

My cacti+succulents love it!
Perfect soil for my cacti and succulents! My plants have started to thrive once I repotted them from the soggy, fertilizer soil I had them in before (ooops!)

Far too many fines :'(
It's definitely pumice, but to call it 1/4" is simply false advertising. At least half were fines, as pictured. This photo was taken after sifting 1 entire bag through the pictured colander. The coarse are in the 5-gal and the fines are in the box. Still giving three stars because I did get pumice. I half-way expected to have to sift some out so I bought more than I needed. Definitely buy at least twice as much as you need to use.

Too fine for net pots
Bought this to use in net pots for hydroponics. It is way too fine a material for this! Ran the entire 16qt bag through a 1/4" mesh wire and only about 2 quarts remained. This probably isn't even useful as a soil amendment since it is way to fine/sandy to provide volume and drainage.
