This depends what you are looking for. In my opinion, this Item is far too heavy and lacks sufficient height adjustment, to use as any kind of a walking aid, and if you were stopped by the police, it would take some explaining, why you have a hidden serrated knife and vicious looking fish spear in what feels like a solid metal bar, with a hammer for a handle.But the weight and the fact that you can't adjust the length of the pole without removing a section, or reforming the handle, are the deciding factors for me and I’m going to buy hiking poles for that purpose. I certainly couldn’t carry mine for any great distance.But, it is an extremely effective home defence item, for those who keep a baseball bat under the bed. The pole might as well be solid metal. It could be considered an extremely effective and potentially deadly weapon, without even revealing the blades. I use mine to assist in exercises, it is that sturdy. But have never taken it out of the house and would never recommend this item for outdoor pursuits, other than maybe surviving a zombie apocalypse!In summary, beautifully engineered, the parts fit together absolutely perfectly, looks good, is extremely strong, the tools are again, beautifully made and the whole item feels like it would last a dozen lifetimes. But it is simply too heavy and lacks sufficient height adjustment. Though it has gnarled hand grips the length of the item. The item looks beautiful, like a staff out of Star Wars, but as I said, I'm buying proper hiking poles to reduce the weight and get the perfect height.
