Misaka's eyes~! <3
Ok, long story short, I was planning to watch "A Certain Scientific Railgun" since uni started, so this summer I'm setting aside some time to marathon the series. I decided to buy this Misaka Mikoto plush to help me marathon, er... I mean, look nice on my shelf next to Rin & Len. ^^" Comparing her with her character design as seen in the anime, GE's plush looks very similar. Her school uniform is faithful to her design, down to her rounded collar, school emblem on her vest, and the felt hairclip in her hair. Even her fringe-y brown felt hairstyle from the anime is replicated with this plush! The only minor point I have is her hair and eye color, while in the anime both are a light chestnut brown, the plush has more of a chocolate brown color for both. That's not really a bad thing, because the darker hair color makes her look more appealing! She comes with a generic hangtag with an illustration of the main cast of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. The best feature of this plush is the eyes, what attracted my attention to this plush was GE's now seemingly unused eye design. Her painted-on eyes directly remind one of Railgun's art style and look like they came straight out of mainstream anime in general. Most of GE's plush didn't appeal to me because for most characters, the eyes are sewed on and missing highlights and eye-whites (it must be hard to sew those), making them look more like generic dolls dressed up as anime characters instead of the actual character. I'm appreciative that, at least for Railgun plush, GE decided to finally include anime eyes in the spirit of the original animation. I wish that more character plush (hello, Asuna and Kirito?) had this style of eyes. I'm fine with plush Nendoroid eyes, those are cute in their own way, but GE plushes looked a bit weird to me until this one of Misaka.
