Perfect for indoor watering…
This is the best bulb watering product I have ever used. The push into the ground type and screw into a base type bulbs. Don’t work 10% as good as this product. I water the plants indoors once a week with miracle grow pump fertilizer. And the bulbs supplement the watering of the plant for the rest of the week. The slide in and slide out feature of the product prevent you from disturbing the dirt that the plant is living in. Although I have several of the other types of bulb watering devices, I have put them in the garage in a box and now only use this type. Far far superior to the others and worth a few dollars more. I highly recommend this product.

Prettiest self-watering option
I am bad at plants, and yet I would like to have plants. These globes have been keeping a pair of ferns on my front porch (which is under the eaves) alive. I just crammed one into the dirt of my new lemon tree, which I am being overly ambitious in attempting not to kill. I work, a lot, and there are days I come home so tired I literally don't have the energy to water a plant, and this soothes my conscience.

Two Weeks On Vacation, Plant Nanny Worked Great!
I will keep this short and to the point. My mom was going to Florida for two weeks. I wasn't going to be able to pass her home to water plants as I was going away too. I decided to give the Plant Nanny a try. I never used these before, and I researched on Amazon for every alternative product. I saw others that were much cheaper in price but didn't review well. Despite the higher price, I picked up a few of these. And boy am I glad that I did. They worked excellent! My mom watered her plants the night before leaving. After watering the plants, she put a Plant Nanny filled with water in each plant. When she returned two weeks later, some of the Plant Nanny's were still half full. One was almost empty. All the plants were fine and nothing seemed to have been over watered. If you are debating whether or not to purchase these, give them a try. Amazon offers a 30 day refund if you're not satisfied. The ones I bought, will not be going back to Amazon. My mom was extremely happy with them which makes me just as happy.

Lovely, low profile, elegant. AVOID USE IN DIRECT SUN.
Lovely, low profile, elegant. Comes with a nice little instruction booklet. However, the product description doesn't mention the warning repeated in both the instructions and on a separate insert prominently attached where you have to remove it before unpacking the globe - "AVOID USE IN DIRECT SUN" "Direct sunlight passing through a filled or partly-filled glass globe may, in rare circumstances, produce a lens effect and a hot spot near the globe. To avoid potential heat damage avoid placing the globe where it will receive direct sun." Looks like it'll work fine once plants are big enough to shade the globe. Also, be aware of how long 12 oz of water will last for your particular plants, soil and climate. There are Plant Nannies available with 24 oz globes.

Tested while away; worked for me!
Bought this before I left for a 16 day trip. Would have bought more but I think the price is a bit steep at 25, so I only bought one to try it. Think this would make a good gift for anyone with plants, as it really is handy. I like the green version to try to make it “blend in” but it is a bit large and will probably be visible as the stake portion won’t fit just anywhere in your plant’s base.My other 2 indoor plants without this item were sad and wilty when I returned home (all my indoor plants only received 1 watering while I was away), where as the indoor plant that had the Plant Nanny looked exactly as if I’d never left.I’d highly recommend this item, it really works and I appreciate that the terra-cotta spike can’t become clogged with dirt like other plant water-ers with merely a glass tube.

Look better than soda-pop bottles, but need one more thing
I was hoping these would be the solution to keeping planters watered while gone over a 2-3 day period. The instructions say to loosen the hole the stake is in if the soil "draws" too much water, but they still run through the water very quickly, like over 12-18 hours, EVEN if the soil is very wet (on a rainy day).7-1-16:. I think i found a solution! I put one tablespoon (No more!) miracle gro water storage crystals Into the installed Terra cotta stake. Added water until they are completely plumped and fill up to 1" below the top of the stake. They will seal the flow of water from the globe but absorb it slowly as they release it to a drying out stake. I tried this when adding the crystals into holes in the soil. It has worked for me, anyway, and kept my plants from drying out for 6 days away.

Bait and Switch
I have ordered Plant Nanny brand watering devices multiple times in the past and LOVED them. They are truly a great solution for providing the right level of moisture to houseplants. However, my most recent order left me deeply disappointed. Instead of the well-made, well-packaged plant nannies that I was used to, I received a mess. A third of the nannies were broken - the terra cotta spikes had either chipped or fallen apart completely, and/or the necks of the globes were broken. The ones that weren't broken were so poorly made that the necks of half of the globes were wider than the openings of the spikes, hence they didn't fit inside and were useless.I am attaching photos comparing the packaging for the well-made nannies (on the right) and the poorly-made nannies (on the left) in hopes that it might help someone. The box dimensions for the good ones are 5" x 5-1/4" x 8-1/2"; the box has a white background with dark green printing. The box dimensions for the bad one are 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" x 10-1/2"; the box has a very pale green background with dark green printing.Because I expected these the be the items I had ordered before and loved, when I opened the shipping box and found that the parts of the globes that I could see were intact, I didn't investigate further until I needed to use some and my returns window had closed - so shame on ME for that. If you do decide to order, please make a point of inspecting them thoroughly - open the display boxes as well as the shipping box - upon receipt.
