Fantastic art and movie companion
The media could not be loaded. I've received a few request for the review of this artbook and now it's finally here. The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road is a huge 176-page hardcover artbook that measures 16 inches diagonally across. This book features the art and making of the film. In terms of break down, I would say it's 50-50 art and photography. The art consists of storyboards, story scene paintings, character and vehicle design. The photography are of film stills, behind the scenes shots and those to highlight certain aspect, such as close ups on the different vehicles. The photos are fantastic also because they are really high res where you can see lots of details and well composed like film art.The artworks are beautiful with a nice textural feel to them. I'm not sure how they are created but majority is definitely not digital painting, more like pencils, pastels, and those grainy medium, and some paintings also. Some drawings actually reminded me of Moebius' art because of the level of detail rendered. So what's featured exactly?Furiosa and the wives, Immortan Joe, Coma the Doof Warrior, Miss Giddy, Nux and the many other characters. Vehicles are the highlight also and we have the War Rig, Gigahorse, Big Foot and various other pursuit vehicles. The vehicle designs are really amazing. Overall, there's this really gritty steampunk look to everything and everything seems to work well together visually. The commentary included talks about the filming process, the characters, story plot at time, vehicles, building stuff, the staging and even some nostalgia from the first few Mad Max films. It's an insightful read. This is a seriously good art book.Highly recommended.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

Awesome production art and story
Goes into wonderful detail on the production of the film: Props, costumes, locations, vehicles. Was better than I expected it to be, and I already had high hopes. My favorite section was a discussion of the cars and the challenges involved in actually filming with them.

Art of Mad Max: Fury Road
The media could not be loaded. Audiences are raving about "Mad Max: Fury Road". This is a great book that will serve as a nice companion to the film. This is a well-balanced book that includes a lot of imagery: early sketches, concept art, production photos, character portraits, and shots of the finished movie. The book is mainly organized by major characters and sequence. Material is presented in chronological order of how it appears in the film.Anyone who has seen "Fury Road" knows that it has a very distinct look, whether it be the complex vehicles, the unique character makeup, or the overall color palette of the film. As you might imagine, there is a lot to explore in this art book, which allows you to see the design work up close and study it. There is also text in the book which highlights some of the design challenges as well as the overall film production process.Obviously, this book is highly recommended if you are a fan of the movie and were impressed with its visual elements. What's included in the book:- A look at all the characters in the film: including Max, Furiosa, and Immortan Joe- Makeup and costumes- Designing the Citadel- Creating the Vehicles (which were built to look great but also withstand the stunt work required)- Storyboards and sketches of key sequences- On-location photography (including shooting in the deserts of Namibia, Africa)- Photographs of the props, weapons, and vehicle interiors[Note: See comments section for links to a Photo Gallery of the book & the HD unboxing video]

Max fans should get this book, even if you hated Fury Road.
Very nice collection of the props, vehicles and storyboards along with concept art. The only real regret is that I wish there were many more XB Falcon coupe Interceptor photos, maybe even a full chapter on the BoB showing its transformation after it was carjacked. The Falcon is as much a character in the Max cannon as the Max himself. It's like the Enterprise is to Star Trek. (Just look at this book's cover).I only hope Miller or whomever may create future Max movies understands this and will at least have the XB Interceptor make appearances in each sequel. This book and the Inspired Artists hardback are in my collection. I would really like to see a complete original George Miller storyboard book released.

No coffee table? Max don't care!!
I love all the MadMax movies, but Fury Road had the most killer vehicles. Lots of them featured here, plus characters and storyline info. I'm sure the book could've been twice as many pages, but I'm happy for what it is. A beautiful hardcover book worthy of any fans collection. I bought mine during Prime days and saved 5 bucks, but would've paid full price either way. Oh what a lovely book!
